Sustainable Living: More Water for Less Energy

The ongoing desertification and climate change affects parts of Turkmenistan and leads to extensive and often severe problems of land degradation. UNDP works with technology transfer, investment, and policy reform, towards providing sufficient and environmentally sustainable water supply to enhance social conditions and economic livelihood of the population of Turkmenistan, also reducing GHG emissions associated with water management, preventing and remediating salinization of lands.

How to Make Cities Safe and Sustainable?

 In 2008, for the first time, the number of the urban population in the world has exceed the rural population.  By 2050, that figure will have risen to 6.5 billion people – two-thirds of the humans on our planet.  The same tendency is observed in Turkmenistan, where the number of urban population exceeded rural in 2014. And this trend is accelerating.
