In this video I will show you how I combined a LTC3780, which is a powerful 130W Step Up/Step Down converter, with a 12V 5A power supply to create an adjustable lab bench power supply (0.8V-29.4V || 0.3A-6A). The performance is quite good in comparison with other models which cost around the same.

Power supply
A power supply is an electronic device that supplies electric energy to an electrical load. The primary function of a power supply is to convert one form of electrical energy to another and, as a result, power supplies are sometimes referred to as electric power converters. Some power supplies are discrete, stand-alone devices, whereas others are built into larger devices along with their loads. Examples of the latter include power supplies found in desktop computers and consumer electronics devices.
Every power supply must obtain the energy it supplies to its load, as well as any energy it consumes while performing that task, from an energy source. Depending on its design, a power supply may obtain energy from various types of energy sources, including electrical energy transmission systems, energy storage devices such as a batteries and fuel cells, electromechanical systems such as generators and alternators, solar power converters, or another power supply.
All power supplies have a power input, which receives energy from the energy source, and a power output that delivers energy to the load. In most power supplies the power input and output consist of electrical connectors or hardwired circuit connections, though some power supplies employ wireless energy transfer in lieu of galvanic connections for the power input or output. Some power supplies have other types of inputs and outputs as well, for functions such as external monitoring and control.

Do it yourself, also known as DIY, is the method of building, modifying, or repairing something without the direct aid of experts or professionals. Academic research describes DIY as behaviors where "individuals engage raw and semi-raw materials and component parts to produce, transform, or reconstruct material possessions, including those drawn from the natural environment (e.g. landscaping)". DIY behavior can be triggered by various motivations previously categorized as marketplace motivations (economic benefits, lack of product availability, lack of product quality, need for customization), and identity enhancement (craftsmanship, empowerment, community seeking, uniqueness)
The term "do-it-yourself" has been associated with consumers since at least 1912 primarily in the domain of home improvement and maintenance activities. We need different range of voltages to power any electronics like DC motors,circuits etc.So, i have made this adjustable power supply by showing a Circuit diagram to you guys and with the help of my video.It is very easy to make your own even, a begginer can also make this one by following video and circuit diagram. ABOUT WIRING: Here in this PSU to make it 1- 20v adjustable power supply i have cut all unecessary wires excep four wires : Blue,Yellow,Green and Grey. Hi Guys here is the new project How to make selectable voltage power supply from computer CPU power supply DIY bench power supply from "Electrical and electronics projects" "E&EP;" Channel it's very easy and at low investment now you can easily make your own just moving selecter to desire voltage here you have 3 in 1 Power Supply. Take 6 Yellow wires,6 Black(GND) wires,4 Orange wires,4 Red wires and take Green one to power the supply. Yellow wire gives 12V DC Orange wire gives 3.3V DC Red wire gives 5V DC Green wire is for on/off by connecting to black one. Black wires are Ground Negative wires. In this video I will show you how I combined a LTC3780, which is a powerful 130W Step Up/Step Down converter, with a 12V 5A power supply to create an adjustable lab bench power supply (0.8V-29.4V || 0.3A-6A). The performance is quite good in comparison with other models which cost around the same.

Hi Guys here is the new video from my channel "How to make adjustable 1 to 20 voltage power supply from old PSU.DIY Bench power supply." from "Electrical and electronics projects" "E&EP;" Channel.
This is a PSU from old computer and want it to convert to 1 - 20 Volts Adjustable power supply almost works same as bench power supply.
We need different range of voltages to power any electronics like DC motors,circuits etc.So, i have made this adjustable power supply by showing a Circuit diagram to you guys and with the help of my video.It is very easy to make your own even, a begginer can also make this one by following video and circuit diagram.
ABOUT WIRING:
Here in this PSU to make it 1- 20v adjustable power supply i have cut all unecessary wires excep four wires : Blue,Yellow,Green and Grey.
Blue wire is -12v used for cathode and Yellow wire is +12v used for Anode and the remaining two are for turn the PSU on by connecting them together and for Digital DC volt meter there are three wires connected with RED,BLACK and WHITE Red&Black; wires are to power the Meter connect Black to Blue -12v and Red to +12v and connect the White wire to output voltage side of circuit which is adjustable for more better understanding the circuit diagram is in the video.
MATERIAL'S LIST:
220 ohm Resister 1/4W (1)
100uF 35v Capacitors (2)
0.1 uF 50v Capacitors (2)
VR Potentiometer 10k (1)
U1 LM317 Regulator
Binding Pots (2)
Digital DC volt meter 0-99v

Hi Guys here is the new project How to make selectable voltage power supply from computer CPU power supply DIY bench power supply from "Electrical and electronics projects" "E&EP;" Channel it's very easy and at low investment now you can easily make your own just moving selecter to desire voltage here you have 3 in 1 Power Supply.
Take 6 Yellow wires,6 Black(GND) wires,4 Orange wires,4 Red wires and take Green one to power the supply.
Yellow wire gives 12V DC
Orange wire gives 3.3V DC
Red wire gives 5V DC
Green wire is for on/off by connecting to black one.
Black wires are Ground Negative wires.

Product Review: CyberPower GX1325U True Sine Wave Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)
Here's a very in-depth and honest look at CyberPower Systems' GX1325U sine wave uninterruptible power supply. It's the model to buy if you need such a thing, but there isn't much competition. The good: 1. Yes, it really has a true sine wave output. And that output *stays* clean even under heavy, highly inductive loads. I didn't expect it to do nearly as well as it did! 2. It passed my brutal "furnace fan" test and kept a Power Macintosh G5's very picky power supply happy. 3. It has a serial port, though presumably only for simple signaling. 4. You can use it to provide a power backup for almost anything that plugs into an outlet, so long as you don't exceed the ratings. 5. Building a DIY C64 Power Supply (The Lazy Way)
I made a simple replacement power supply for my Commodore 64 and my VIC 20 by using a 9V transformer and a pre-made 5V power brick and putting it into a nice case basically. I kept the "preliminary fuse" of 315mA for the primary but settled on a larger 1.5A fuse for the 5V because 1A is underpowered (and causes problems, especially on the VIC20 which is a bit more power hungry). ONLY ATTEMPT TO BUILD SOMETHING LIKE THIS IF YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE DOING. MAINS VOLTAGE CAN KILL YOU! Here's a very in-depth and honest look at CyberPower Systems' GX1325U sine wave uninterruptible power supply. It's the model to buy if you need such a thing, but there isn't much competition.
The good:
1. Yes, it really has a true sine wave output. And that output *stays* clean even under heavy, highly inductive loads. I didn't expect it to do nearly as well as it did!
2. It passed my brutal "furnace fan" test and kept a Power Macintosh G5's very picky power supply happy.
3. It has a serial port, though presumably only for simple signaling.
4. You can use it to provide a power backup for almost anything that plugs into an outlet, so long as you don't exceed the ratings.
5. Pricing is very competitive with other UPSes having only a "stepped" sine wave output.
6. It's basically the only UPS having a true sine wave output at this price point.
7. The alarm beeper can be silenced, and the status display made to illuminate constantly.
8. Three year warranty.
The bad:
1. Automatic voltage regulation only boosts low line voltage. High line voltage conditions require this UPS switch to its battery.
2. Line voltage reaches approximately 140 volts AC before the UPS intervenes and switches over to battery. Most anything should stand this for a little while, but it's stressful and I could see some devices not taking it so well.
3. Batteries appear to be custom-made for CyberPower, thus locking you in to their replacements (at least for now). Given some time, I am sure the aftermarket will come through and you could always modify the unit to run with external batteries.
4. An equipment protection policy having some ridiculous claimed value is provided should a failure of this product damage your equipment. Just read the fine print, expect technicalities galore if you ever should file a claim and be prepared to provide superlative proof that everything was in order.
5. CyberPower doesn't discuss the serial port or what you can use it for in their documentation. (Maybe it's on their web site.)
6. Adjustments of the unit's operational characteristics don't seem to be possible through its front panel interface, beyond the most basic settings (display constantly on and beeper muted).

I made a simple replacement power supply for my Commodore 64 and my VIC 20 by using a 9V transformer and a pre-made 5V power brick and putting it into a nice case basically.
I kept the "preliminary fuse" of 315mA for the primary but settled on a larger 1.5A fuse for the 5V because 1A is underpowered (and causes problems, especially on the VIC20 which is a bit more power hungry).
ONLY ATTEMPT TO BUILD SOMETHING LIKE THIS IF YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE DOING. MAINS VOLTAGE CAN KILL YOU!
