Suge Knight received the nickname as an abbreviation of ‘Sugar Bear’ but the dude is anything but soft and cuddle. Young Suge Knight was a talented football player who received a full scholarship to the University of Nevada, following this he played as a defensive lineman for the Los Angeles Rams. When his footaball career came to an end, Suge took note of other Compton natives making it big in rap and applied his services as a bodyguard.
He quickly learned that he could make more money intimidating artists as opposed to protecting them.

Suge Knight is reportedly suing Dr. Dre for hiring a hitman to kill him, reports TMZ.
According to the claims, Suge says he had a lifetime management deal with Dre, which entitled him to a 30% cut of Dre's earnings. However, Suge alleges Dre tried to cut him out of the hefty Beats earnings because Apple, which bought out Beats from Dre for $3 billion back in 2014, didn't want its brand associated with Suge. The lawsuit maintains that Dre's solution was to hire a hitman to kill Suge at 1 OAK during the 2014 VMAs pre-party hosted by Chris Brown. That night, Suge was shot six times, but he successfully recovered after being taken to the hospital.

In a shocking interview on the Murder Master Music Show, Eminem's former bodyguard claims that Suge Knight once tried to have Eminem killed. Byron "Big Naz" Williams said the incident took place at the 2001 Source Awards, which he noted was known to be plagued with violence problems. Eminem was forced to sit away from his bodyguards with other artists and fans.
“That was our first encounter with Suge Knight and his henchman," he said. "Em was going to his seat. The way they had the seating was all messed up and the bodyguards couldn’t sit with the artists. I think that was by design ’cause I think they really wanted the artists to be able to network with each other, but it also gives people who got beef with other artists to get at them," he said.

Suge Knight
Marion Hugh "Suge" Knight Jr. (/ˈʃʊɡ/; born April 19, 1965) is an American record producer and music executive. He is the founder and CEO of Black Kapital Records and co-founder and former CEO of Death Row Records. Death Row Records rose to dominate the rap charts after Dr. Dre's breakthrough album The Chronic in 1992. After several years of chart successes for artists including Tupac Shakur, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Outlawz and Tha Dogg Pound, Death Row Records stagnated after Knight's incarceration on probation violation charges in September 1996 and went bankrupt in 2006.
In February 2015, Knight was charged with murder and attempted murder following a fatal hit-and-run in Compton, California. He pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Early life
Marion Hugh Knight Jr. was born in Compton, California, the son of Maxine (Chatman) and Marion Knight Sr. His name, Suge, derives from “Sugar Bear”, a childhood nickname. He attended Lynwood High School in nearby Lynwood, where he was a football and track star. He graduated in 1983. From 1983 to 1985, he attended El Camino College on a football scholarship. In 1985, he transferred to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and played there for two years.

Suge Knight is reportedly suing Dr. Dre for hiring a hitman to kill him, reports TMZ. According to the claims, Suge says he had a lifetime management deal with Dre, which entitled him to a 30% cut of Dre's earnings. However, Suge alleges Dre tried to cut him out of the hefty Beats earnings because Apple, which bought out Beats from Dre for $3 billion back in 2014, didn't want its brand associated with Suge. The lawsuit maintains that Dre's solution was to hire a hitman to kill Suge at 1 OAK during the 2014 VMAs pre-party hosted by Chris Brown. In a shocking interview on the Murder Master Music Show, Eminem's former bodyguard claims that Suge Knight once tried to have Eminem killed. Byron "Big Naz" Williams said the incident took place at the 2001 Source Awards, which he noted was known to be plagued with violence problems. Suge Knight is suing Dr. Dre for allegedly hiring a hitman to kill him. According to TMZ, the battle is over Dre's successful company Beats by Dre. Knight claims he and Dre had a deal that entitled Knight to 30 percent of Dre's entertainment earnings. But when Apple showed interest in purchasing Beats by Dry (it eventually did), the technology company allegedly didn't want to be associated with Knight, so Dre tried to cut him out. The lawsuit claims Dre hired a hitman to kill the Death Row Records co-founder and former CEO at 1Oak nightclub the weekend of the 2014 VMAs. Knight was shot seven times but ultimately recovered. In January 2015, however, Knight drove to Tam's Burgers in Compton, Calif.

According to the claims, Suge says he had a lifetime management deal with Dre, which entitled him to a 30% cut of Dre's earnings. However, Suge alleges Dre tried to cut him out of the hefty Beats earnings because Apple, which bought out Beats from Dre for $3 billion back in 2014, didn't want its brand associated with Suge. The lawsuit maintains that Dre's solution was to hire a hitman to kill Suge at 1 OAK during the 2014 VMAs pre-party hosted by Chris Brown. That night, Suge was shot six times, but he successfully recovered after being taken to the hospital.
