Westpac Little Ripper Lifesaver

Westpac Little Ripper Lifesaver offer a suite of sophisticated single and multi rotor UAV's (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles or Drones) tailored for search, rescue and lifesaving operations. Little Ripper UAV’s (drones) have been developed specifically to execute multiple strategies including deploying rescue devices and communicating with those requiring assistance. This way Westpac Little Ripper Lifesaver rescue teams can react quickly and efficiently to save lives.

Westpac's Lifesaver Initiative

Westpac has sponsored the Little Ripper Lifesaver since 28th February 2016, complementing their 42 year commitment to the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter Services that we have all come to know and love. Westpac believes the The Little Ripper Lifesaver project represents the next evolution in beach safety, with the ability to rapidly identify and respond to incidents with specialised unmanned aircraft.

World's First Autonomous Shark Detecting UAV

Westpac Little Ripper Lifesaver have worked closely with the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) to develop an Artificial Intelligence based system that is able to detect sharks with high accuraccy, in real-time. This technology allows for faster reaction times to potential shark threats at beaches.

Rescue Pods

Rescue Pods called (ULB`s) stand for `you little beauty’ something those in need of rescue would say when they see the rescue pods. These Rescue Pods are designed for rapid deployment from UAVs.

Marine Pod

The ULB Marine Rescue Pod contains a platform that provides enough flotation to support 3-4 persons. The pod automatically inflates when dropped into water and are re-usable and re-packable by using a replacement CO2 inflation system. They are fitted with an automatic SOLAS light for night rescue, SOLAS grade high visibility retro-reflective tape, and can include a large sea anchor and a Shark Shield. The lightweight Pods are designed to provide that little bit of help until rescue arrives.

Land Pod

The Little Ripper developed and designed ULB Land Pod© contains: a miniature automatic external defibrillator (AED); EPIRB personal location beacon; thermal blanket; radio; V sheet for rescue; and basic first-aid kit.

Snow Pod

The Little Ripper developed and designed ULB Snow Pod© contains: An EPIRB personal location beacon, thermal blanket, radio/phone, skin warmers, energy bars, basic first-aid kit.
