Fundraiser set up to help pay legal fees of alleged dine-and-dasher

A GoFundMe has been set up in order to help pay the legal fees of the “busty Aussie blonde” allegedly caught up in the middle of a dine-and-dash scandal, after a number of Perth restaurants posted her photo claiming she had routinely skipped out on the bill with a man believed to be her partner in recent months.

The fundraiser, named “Help Busty Aussie Blonde”, popped up on the website on Tuesday, and the organiser wrote:

“AUSTRALIAN LADY BEING HUNTED FOR SOMETHING SHE DIDNT DO. Being blamed in small town of perth IN western Australia. Please help to stop injustice. Please donate towards legal fees. Need urgently. You would be a great help to stop this madness, [sic]” the description of the fundraiser reads.

So far, the GoFundMe has a goal of $2000 and has not received a single donation despite being shared 38 times.

The most recent update reads: “Really needing some support shown for those who stuck up for what they believe to be true and correct”.

However, commenters were quick to criticise the attempt to launch the campaign.

“I'll donate $50 if you take me out for a nice lunch...” one wrote.

Swan Valley microbrewery Elmar’s in the Valley was the first restaurant to put out a call for information over an unpaid bill from the weekend, but said they were sure it had just “skipped the couple’s mind” to pay for their meal.

However, they were soon joined by a chorus of other restaurants who said they had been victims of the same ploy.

The Royal on the Waterfront in East Perth said they believed the same couple had skipped out on a $240 bill from earlier this month, Floreat Hotel manager Rochelle Marwick said she filed a police report following an unpaid bill of $260 in February.

Staff at Terrazza Cafe in Applecross said he believed the couple targeted his venue in June last year, and owner of Hillary's 3 Sheets restaurant Nick Evans also told Radio 6PR he thought the same couple had hit his restaurant twice last year leaving the venue $500 out of pocket.

It’s not known if the same couple is responsible for the multiple offences, but WA Police are currently investigating any possible link between the cases.

The organiser of the campaign has been contacted for comment.
