A car has caught on fire on the Kwinana Freeway near Bateman after two cars crashed into each other on Wednesday morning.
Emergency services were responding to the burning vehicle on the northbound lane near Leach Highway. The crash has since been cleared.
Police spokeswoman Susan Usher said the drivers of both cars had left their vehicles and police had no reports of any injuries.
There are however reports of a man taken to hospital with shock.
There is also some damage to the road.
The crash and blaze has thrown the morning commute to Perth into chaos, with the freeway northbound reduced to a single lane for tow hours.
Traffic is very slow and was backed up from Russell Road in Success all the way to Canning Highway in Como by 8.20am. Commuters are urged to find alternative routes.
The train service had also been disrupted due to the freeway blaze.
Mandurah and Joondalup Line services continue to be delayed due to an incident. Trains are running but not to the regular schedule. Please allow extra travelling time https://t.co/aFgTo020m6
