This Study Abroad Certificate program will give you deep insights into a different legal system and culture. You'll have the opportunity to share your knowledge with Australian and other international law students, while increasing your experience for future employment in a global legal environment.

You'll have the opportunity to visit courts and tribunals near our Queen Street Campus, in the heart of the Melbourne legal precinct. Close by are the Supreme Court, County Court, Melbourne Magistrates' Court and Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal.

The legal system in Australia is known as a common law system, meaning there are two sources of law in Australia: legislation enacted by parliament and judges deciding cases in courts. This contrasts to a civil law system found in countries such as Mexico and Germany.

Exploring differences and similarities between different legal systems and the laws in a foreign jurisdiction adds depth to your legal knowledge and experience.
