Dr Richard Baka

Senior Lecturer, College of Sport & Exercise Science

Dr Baka has been employed at Victoria University since 1979. He teaches a number of subjects including 'Olympic Studies', 'Personal Training" and the 'Australian Sport and Fitness Delivery System' and supervises postgraduate students.

His main area of research is related to the Olympic movement, especially Australia at the Olympics as well as international sport research. He is currently an Associate of the Australian Centre for Olympic Studies and a member of the International Society for Sport History.

His main portfolio includes managing the College of Sport & Exercise exchange programs to such institutions as the University of Western Ontario, Indiana University and the German Sport University.

Richard is an Honorary Faculty Member in the School of Kinesiology at the University of Western Ontario. Since 1996 he has also been the Director of the very popular Victoria University Sports Camps program which has seen thousands of primary and secondary students attend Victoria University during school holiday periods.

Throughout his academic career Richard has been very active in the fitness area as a researcher, teacher and consultant to various fitness centres and major companies involved in corporate fitness.

In 1995 he was named Australian Fitness Leader of the Year by the Australian Fitness Network.
