Dubai

Dubai (/duːˈbaɪ/ doo-BY; Arabic: دبي‎ Dubayy, Gulf pronunciation: [dʊˈbɑj]) is the most populous city in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It is located on the southeast coast of the Persian Gulf and is one of the seven emirates that make up the country. Abu Dhabi and Dubai are the only two emirates to have veto power over critical matters of national importance in the country's legislature. The city of Dubai is located on the emirate's northern coastline and heads up the Dubai-Sharjah-Ajman metropolitan area. Dubai is to host World Expo 2020.

Dubai has emerged as a global city and business hub of the Middle East. It is also a major transport hub for passengers and cargo. By the 1960s Dubai's economy was based on revenues from trade and, to a smaller extent, oil exploration concessions, but oil was not discovered until 1966. Oil revenue first started to flow in 1969. Dubai's oil revenue helped accelerate the early development of the city, but its reserves are limited and production levels are low: today, less than 5% of the emirate's revenue comes from oil. The emirate's Western-style model of business drives its economy with the main revenues now coming from tourism, aviation, real estate, and financial services. Dubai has recently attracted world attention through many innovative large construction projects and sports events. The city has become iconic for its skyscrapers and high-rise buildings, in particular the world's tallest building, the Burj Khalifa. Dubai has been criticised for human rights violations concerning the city's largely South Asian workforce. Dubai's property market experienced a major deterioration in 2008–09 following the financial crisis of 2007–08, but the emirate's economy has made a return to growth, with a projected 2015 budget surplus.

Dubai Police Force

The Dubai Police Force is the 15,000 strongpolice force for the city of Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates. They come under the jurisdiction of the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE (who in turn is the ruler of Dubai), and they cover an area of 4,114 square kilometres and a population of 2,106,177 people.

History

The Dubai Police force was founded on June 1, 1956 in Naif (a locality in the Deira side of Dubai, with the first police station being known as 'Naif Fort') with only 29 members. The size of the force increased gradually, to 105 in 1960 and to 430 by 1967. In 1973, the force moved its headquarters to their current location of Al Towar, on Al Etihad Street in Dubai. At present, a further move is being planned to a newly constructed headquarters, again in Deira.

The Dubai Police force strives to be 'most progressive' of all Arabic police forces and aims for high education standards amongst its personnel. The force was the first to use many new law enforcement techniques, including electronic finger printing and DNA testing. The force was also the first to use GPS systems to locate stolen vehicles. In addition, the force was the first to create a Human Rights Department, as well as the first to employ a Community Policing program.

Boney Kapoor

Boney Kapoor (born Achal Kapoor on 22 April 1955) is an Indian film producer. He is one of the largest producers in Bollywood with blockbusters like Mr. India, No Entry, Judaai and Wanted to his credit. He is the older brother of actors Anil Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor.

Early years and personal life

Kapoor was born on 22 April 1955 in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, India. He is the son of the late Surinder Kapoor who was a Bollywood film producer. Boney's brothers (Anil Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor) are actors and producers.

Boney was married to Mona Shourie Kapoor with whom he has two children, Arjun Kapoor and Anshula. Arjun made a dashing debut in the 2012 hit Ishaqzaade while Anshula currently works with Google after graduating from Barnard College. Boney married Indian actress Sridevi on 2 June 1996. The couple have two daughters, Janhvi (born March 6, 1997) and Khushi (born November 5, 2000).

Career as producer

Boney Kapoor started his career working under legends like Shakti Samanta. The most famous film produced by him remains the Shekhar Kapur directed sci-fi blockbuster Mr India starring Anil Kapoor and Sridevi. It was the second biggest hit of 1987 and remains a cult classic in India. The film was known for several of its lines and songs, including Sridevi's "Miss Hawa Hawaii" performance and Amrish Puri's quote "Mogambo khush hua" (Mogambo is pleased), which is one of the most famous quotes of Bollywood and has become synonymous with Puri. The Mogambo character is considered to be one of the best villains in Bollywood history.

Sridevi

Sridevi Kapoor, known as Sridevi (born Shree Amma Yanger Ayyapan on 13 August 1963), is an Indian film actress who has worked in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada films. She is cited as the first female superstar of Hindi Cinema.

She started her career as a child artist in M.A. Thirumugham’s devotional Thunaivan at the age of four, and continued to act as a child artist in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada films. She made her Bollywood debut as a child artist in the hit Julie (1975) and played her first adult role at age 13 with the Tamil film Moondru Mudichu (1976). Subsequently, Sridevi established herself as one of the leading actresses of Tamil and Telugu cinema, with roles such as 16 Vayathinile (1977), Sigappu Rojakkal (1978), Meendum Kokila (1981), Moondram Pirai (1982), Varumayin Niram Sivappu (1980), Premabhishekam (1981), Aakhari Poratam (1988), Jagadeka Veerudu Atiloka Sundari (1990), and Kshana Kshanam (1991).

In Bollywood, she made her debut as a lead actress in Solva Sawan (1978) and gained wide public attention with the movie Himmatwala (1983). She appeared in a string of commercially successful movies like Mawaali (1983), Tohfa (1984), Masterji (1985), Karma (1986), Mr. India (1987), Waqt Ki Awaz (1988), Chandni (1989). She also received critical acclaim for commercially successful movies like Sadma (1983), Nagina (1986), ChaalBaaz (1989), Lamhe (1991), Khuda Gawah (1992), Gumrah (1993), Laadla (1994), Judaai (1997)
