Prime Minister For Sydney Strikes Again

Malcolm Turnbull has struck again – announcing he will provide billions of dollars for a train line to an airport in Sydney that doesn’t exist, despite owing Victoria billions of dollars in infrastructure funding.

Over the weekend, the Turnbull Government announced it would jointly fund a $7 billion rail link with the New South Wales Liberal Government that will connect the new Badgerys Creek airport to Sydney’s existing rail network when it opens in 2026.

It’s another slap in the face for Victorians, who continue to suffer at the hands of the Prime Minister for Sydney, Malcolm Turnbull and his preoccupation with his home state.

New South Wales currently receives a whopping 45 per cent of Federal infrastructure funding.

In contrast, Victoria continues to receive less than 10 per cent of infrastructure funding, despite being the fastest growing state and home to more than 25 per cent of the nation’s population.

The imbalance means Victorians are being short-changed by the Turnbull Government to the tune of $7.5 billion.

Recent analysis shows that the Prime Minister’s home state of NSW receives on average almost one billion dollars more than it should every year, based on its population.

By comparison, based on its population – Victoria receives almost $1.2 billion less than it should, each year.
