All I Know

"All I Know" is a song written by American songwriter Jimmy Webb, first recorded by Art Garfunkel on his 1973 debut solo album, Angel Clare, released by Columbia Records. Instrumental backing was provided by members of the Wrecking Crew, L.A. session musicians. Garfunkel's version is the best known and highest-charting version, peaking at number nine on the Billboard Hot 100 and number one on the Easy Listening chart for four weeks in October 1973.

In his review for Allmusic, Joe Viglione wrote that Jimmy Webb's own version of the song, recorded for Ten Easy Pieces in 1996, had "none of the gloss" of Garfunkel's hit version, but more soul. Viglione continued:

More recently, Webb invited Linda Ronstadt to join him in a duet version for his 2010 album Just Across the River. Ronstadt had just announced her retirement from singing when Webb sent her an email describing his new CD of duets. Webb asked if she would sing "All I Know" with him, with just a guitar backup. Ronstadt called him and said, "Damnit, you've gotten me interested in that song." Webb later recalled, "There was a poignancy to that moment ... because I didn’t know if she'd ever sing again. Her voice sounds elegantly beautiful on 'All I Know' ... I loved the meticulous way she covered my voice."

The Chainsmokers

The Chainsmokers are an American DJ duo consisting of Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall. Their 2014 single "#Selfie" reached No. 16 on the US charts and No. 11 on the UK charts while their 2015 single "Roses" reached No. 6 on the US charts.

Career

The Chainsmokers were formed as an EDM DJ duo in 2012 under the management of Adam Alpert in New York City. They started out by making remixes of indie bands. In 2012, they collaborated with Indian actress and recording artist Priyanka Chopra on the single "Erase" which was followed by "The Rookie" in early 2013. Their single "#Selfie", released for free in December 2013, was picked up by Dim Mak Records who re-released it in January 2014 and eventually streamed it to Republic Records. On August 5, 2014, The Chainsmokers released "Kanye" featuring sirenXX, the follow up to "#Selfie". On March 3, 2015, they released "Let You Go", featuring Great Good Fine Ok.

They signed with their manager Adam Alpert's joint venture label with Sony Music Entertainment, Disruptor Records, in April 2015. On October 23, 2015, The Chainsmokers released their first EP titled Bouquet, featuring "New York City", "Until You Were Gone", "Waterbed", "Good Intentions", and "Roses". The duo are to release their debut album sometime in 2016. The first single from their debut album, "Don't Let Me Down" was released on February 5, 2016. It features singer Daya.

Matrix & Futurebound are an English drum and bass duo consisting of Jamie Quinn (Matrix) and Brendan Collins (Futurebound). They have had four UK top 40 hits; "All I Know" peaked at number 29 in 2012, "Magnetic Eyes" peaked at number 24 in 2013, "Control" peaked at number 7 in 2014 and "Don't Look Back" featuring Tanya Lacey which peaked at number 38 in 2014.

2005–2011: Debut album

In 2005, Jamie Quinn collaborated with Liverpool-based producer Brendan Collins known as Futurebound to release "Strength 2 Strength" single. They later released their debut album Universal Truth on 9 April 2007 through Metro Recordings and Viper Recordings, under the alias Matrix & Futurebound. On 10 March 2008 they released "Womb" as a single from the Universal Truth album later followed by a new single Shanghai Surprise featuring singer Cat Knight. On 30 May 2011 they released a mix combination album Worldwide 001 which featured Scott Owens and Cat Knight.

2012–present: Mainstream success

All We Know

"All We Know" is a song by the American rock band Paramore. It was released on December 16, 2006 in the United Kingdom, and February 26, 2007 in the United States from their debut studio album, All We Know Is Falling (2005). It was written by lead vocalist Hayley Williams, and is about the departure of the band's bassist, Jeremy Davis.

"All We Know" is about the departure of the band's bass player, Jeremy Davis, and the divorce of Hayley Williams' parents.

Reception

According to MusicOMH, the song is "...full of catchy hooks and lyrics you can scream along to in your bedroom". They go on to remark "they deliver their music with such aplomb that its hard to believe how young they are." Ed Masley at The Arizona Republic ranked it as the 9th best Paramore song, stating "it's held up really well, with its chugging punk guitars and Williams' soaring delivery of lyrics".
