Gimme Some

Gimme Some is the sixth album by Peter Bjorn and John, was released March 28, 2011 in the UK, Europe, and rest of the world on Cooking Vinyl and March 29 in the US on Startime International.

"Breaker, Breaker", "Second Chance", "Dig a Little Deeper" and "May Seem Macabre" were released as singles, the latter as a radio-only single. "Second Chance", which was released on January 24, 2011, is perhaps best known as the opening theme of the American television sitcom 2 Broke Girls. The US tour for Gimme Some was notable for being characterised by free food being provided at each show by a catering company local to the city the band were playing at, tying in with some lyrics and themes of the album's main thematic song "Down Like Me". Live performances from this era were characterised by a back-to-basic, punk-like energy that came as a result of an effort by the band to revert to a more stripped-down sound after the electronic, layered compositions of their previous album Living Thing. Three singles were released from the album: "Breaker Breaker", "Second Chance", and "Dig a Little Deeper". "May Seem Macabre" was also promoted for radio circulation. The band also created a music video in collaboration with Pitchfork.TV of the entire album.

Gimme Some Lovin'

"Gimme Some Lovin'" is a song written by Steve Winwood, Spencer Davis and Muff Winwood, although solely credited to "Steve Winwood" on the UK single label, and originally performed by The Spencer Davis Group. The song was later made popular by the Grateful Dead. The basic riff of the song was borrowed from the Homer Banks song "(Ain't That) A Lot of Love", written by Banks and Willie Dean "Deanie" Parker. "Gimme Some Lovin'" was a UK No. 2 in the Autumn of 1966 and a US No. 7. The song is ranked No. 247 on the Rolling Stone magazine's list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

The version issued in the UK (and probably most of Europe) is different from that issued in the US on the United Artists label, being slower, and lacking backing vocals, some percussion, and the "live sounding" performance found on the US single. (The US version has more often been used on reissue CDs, even those coming from Europe.) The single features the sound of the Hammond B-3 organ.

Gimme

In golf, a gimme is a shot that the other players agree can count automatically without being actually played.

When a player has only a very short putt left to play, other players may grant a gimme (i.e. one stroke is counted), but the ball is not actually played. A gimme is a time-saving convention under the tacit assumption that the putt would not have been missed—e.g. when the ball is only a few inches from the hole.

Gimmes are not allowed by the rules in stroke play, though the practice is common in casual matches. However, in match play, either player may formally concede a stroke, a hole, or the entire match at any time, and this may not be refused or withdrawn. A player in match play will generally concede a tap-in or other short putt by his or her opponent.

The word is a colloquial contraction of the phrase "give me".

Trevor Tahiem Smith, Jr., (born May 20, 1972) better known by his stage name Busta Rhymes, is an American hip hop recording artist. Chuck D of Public Enemy gave him the moniker Busta Rhymes, after NFL wide receiver George "Buster" Rhymes. Early in his career, he was known for his wild style and fashion, and today is best known for his intricate rapping technique, which involves rapping at a fast rate with a lot of internal rhyme and half rhyme, and to date has received eleven Grammy nominations for his musical work.

About.com included him on its list of the 50 Greatest MCs of Our Time (1987–2007), while Steve Huey of AllMusic called him one of the best and most prolific rappers of the 1990s. His list of hit singles include "Woo Hah!! Got You All in Check", "Dangerous", "Turn It Up (Remix)/Fire It Up", "Gimme Some More", "What's It Gonna Be?!", "Pass the Courvoisier, Part II", "I Know What You Want" and "Touch It", among several others. He is set to release his tenth album, E.L.E.2 (Extinction Level Event 2), which will be a sequel to his 1998 album E.L.E. (Extinction Level Event): The Final World Front.

Gimme Some More

"Gimme Some More" is the Grammy–nominated lead single by American rapper Busta Rhymes from his third solo album E.L.E. (Extinction Level Event): The Final World Front. The song is often considered to be the very summit of Busta's complex, breathless, high-speed rhyming delivery most prominent in his early work. The track was produced by regular Busta collaborator DJ Scratch. The violin riffs that accompany the main beat are sampled from the opening theme to Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho, composed by Bernard Herrmann. In 2000, it was nominated for Best Rap Solo Performance at the Grammy Awards, but lost to Eminem's "My Name Is". Rhymes first performed the song live with The Roots on Saturday Night Live with "Tear da Roof Off" on February 13, 1999.
