USS Halsey (DDG-97) is an Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer in the United States Navy.
Halsey is named in honor of Fleet Admiral William Frederick "Bull" Halsey Jr. Halsey was commissioned 30 July 2005 at Naval Air Station North Island, Coronado, California, under commanding officer Commander James L. Autrey.
Built in Pascagoula, Mississippi, the ship and crew were completely certified and "surge ready" 17 January 2006, nearly a year faster than previous DDGs.
Halsey departed for her maiden deployment 6 August 2006 under her second commanding officer, Commander Pinckney. 2 November 2006 Halsey visited Kagoshima, Japan. That night, after a party for visiting local Japanese dignitaries, during which on-duty crew were drinking, there was a fire which damaged one of the main reduction gears. An incomplete report was filed and months later another fire and explosion brought to light the extent of the first fire. The ship's commander was relieved and the damage to the ship was $8.5 million.Halsey returned 24 December 2006, having worked with the Kitty Hawk Carrier Strike Group and taking part in ANNUALEX.
Ashley Nicolette Frangipane (born September 29, 1994), known by her stage name Halsey /ˈhɔːl.zɪ/, is an American singer and songwriter. She started songwriting at the age of 17. In 2014, she signed her first recording contract with Astralwerks and released her debut EP, titled Room 93. Her debut studio album, Badlands, was released in 2015.
Halsey was born and raised in New Jersey as Ashley Frangipane. She is of Italian, Hungarian, and Irish descent on her mother's side and African American on her father's side. Growing up, Halsey played the violin, viola, and cello until moving onto the acoustic guitar when she was 14. In one of her first interviews, Halsey stated she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder around the age of 16 or 17. When she was 18, Halsey encountered financial trouble and music became a way to pay her rent. She played numerous acoustic shows in different cities under various stage names. She chose "Halsey" as her moniker because it is an anagram of her real name as well as a street in Brooklyn where she spent a lot of time as a teenager. Halsey originally planned on going to college to major in fine arts but instead enrolled in a community college as a creative writing major after realizing she could not afford it.
Keep off of that friend of mine, ah-ah-ah
He's not for you, ah-ah-ah
He just wants to spin you a line, ah-ah-ah
There's nothin' new ah-ah-ah
Just one thought on his mind
You know it's that kind you shoulda
Known when you met him you must be blind
Seems like only yesterday
That girl was mine in every way
People couldn't part us if they tried
Now she's turned her head away
She's lost her smile she's not so gay
Won't you come back to my side
Keep off of that friend of mine, ah-ah-ah
He's not for you, ah-ah-ah
He just wants to spin you a line, ah-ah-ah
There's nothin' new ah-ah-ah
Just one thought on his mind
You know it's that kind you shoulda
Known when you met him you must be blind
Seems like only yesterday
That girl was mine in every way
People couldn't part us if they tried
Now she's turned her head away
She's lost her smile she's not so gay
Won't you come back to my side
Keep off of that friend of mine
Keep off of that friend of mine
Keep off of that friend of mine
