Q: Does Ink Monkey publish physical books as well as eBooks?
At the moment we are just publishing books digitally - and are making a virtue of it. In the near future, a number of titles may be made available as paperbacks. We’ll announce this on the site as soon as it happens.
Q: Do I need a Kindle to read an Ink Monkey eBook?
No, Kindle is just one sort of eReader device. You can also read an eBook on your laptop, PC or tablet by downloading the necessary app. Ink Monkey books are available to be read on all devices. The most common readers are Kindle, iPad, Nook, and Kobo.
Q: Do I need to live in the UK to buy an Ink Monkey title?
For almost all of our titles we control world rights and publish digitally in all territories. So, therefore, you can usually purchase a title wherever you are in the world. Through our distributor, ePubDirect we sell to over 1,000 retailers and 25,000 libraries.
Q: Do I pay VAT on my purchase?
Unfortunately, the Government has decided that VAT is to be applied to eBooks. But don’t worry, the price you see listed already includes the VAT so there is nothing to pay on top.
Q: How long will it take to download an Ink Monkey eBook?
It should only take a matter of seconds but, depending on download speeds, etc., it could take anything up to a few minutes.
Q: I hear of something called DRM. What is that?
DRM stands for Digital Rights Management and most publishing companies add DRM to their eBooks to protect the copyright and prevent illegal copying of the file. In the case of Ink Monkey, for books bought direct from the site through our third-party store provider Firsty Fish, social DRM is added. This means you can download the book up to six times (it may vary) before you are no longer able to download it. You can share it on your various devices. We may, in the future, completely remove DRM and, in some eBook offers on this site, DRM isn’t applied at all.
Q: Is it safe to download an Ink Monkey eBook?
Yes, all our files are free from viruses or other malicious agents.
Q: Do you accept submissions for electronic publishing?
Yes, our guidelines for submitting are on our Contact Us page. We are happy to take a look at material submitted in the appropriate way and will get back to you, hopefully within four weeks.
Q: If I subscribe to the Ink Monkey site or dotMailer newsletter will any of my details get passed to a third party?
No, Ink Monkey shares no information with third parties, although if you order a book direct from the site, we will share the order information with our trading partner Firsty Fish who handle all our eBook sales.
