In her defence, maybe her CV was exquisite. Although, as she's a graduate I highly doubt that she has that much work experience under her belt. Anyway... Here's the rap she sent as her application:

If her name was Folake Adeyemi, she probably wouldn't have gotten the interviews.

"This is the perfect way to grab the attention of employers. It shows brilliant creativity and a willingness to think outside the box." "With that level of creativity, we believe she has a brilliant future." - the recruiter likely said that AFTER they saw what she looked like.

When people say "being black means you have to work twice as hard", they're not kidding. I honestly don't think she would have gotten away with that kind of application if she was black. I mean, I could be wrong but imagine if a black woman or black man sent that application.

When Grime gatherings in London were being suppressed by Met Police's 696 forms, and when Grime artists were surveilled and targeted, where was this ‘Woke’ awareness? Interesting to see how perceptions of Black music change when white folk utilise it.

I changed my name on my CV after months of no responses, to something ethnically and gender ambiguous and got 4 calls for interviews the next day, took one of the jobs, and now I’m stuck with a name I don’t want.

Meanwhile I'm anxious about using contractions cz in combination with my 'unpronouncable' last name and arts degree, I might as well kiss the job goodbye

Although it's mad that I've been on BBC News, just gotta say their article is really quite misleading and if you want the proper story you can ask me for a link to it.
