A group of Black students from Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High called a press conference today to say they have concerns that may not mirror those of their white peers. And that the media should listen. #MSDStrongpic.twitter.com/f3iy85Szi7

Humans are being represented...Americans are being represented...What in the sam hell does the color of your F**king skin got to do with anything...Perhaps a history lesson on MLK, who did not think skin color should be how we judge people?
-
You remember how he was assassinated for saying that, dumb shit?
-
.....and now he would be assassinated by many of his own race for that very same statement. My, my how times have changed!

"Well here we are. Do you see us?" I don't think that attitude is necessary.
-
It’s not necessary it’s an imperative!
-
No it’s not. The black student is insinuating all officers are racist. They aren’t. Keep being racist students
-
No, that isn't what they are saying at all. They are saying that police officers, regardless of race, treat POC differently and use harsher action towards them as report after report shows.
-
This is the core issue! There is a presumption of violence baked into policing when dealing with POC, especially males, that’s the crux of the “gun, gun, gun” problem

The issue they're speaking to, is extremely important. The FACT is, armed police officers in school have done NOTHING to reduce school shootings. What those policies HAVE done, is further criminalize POC youth, leading to incarceration of these kids for minor disciplinary issues.
-
Huh? There was literally a school shooting in Maryland 2 weeks ago where an armed police office stopped the guy that was shooting by shooting him with a gun.
-
That's not correct. The shooter had already shot his ex-girlfriend and was walking away before the officer arrived and shot him. No indication he planned to shoot anyone else.
-
Was the shooter taken out by an armed police officer? Yes or no? You know with 100% certainty he didn’t have anyone else he wanted to shoot? You willing to take that chance in the future or would you rather an armed guard take him down before he can shoot any1 else?
-
Upon seeing the armed officer, and the armed officer raising his weapon and firing, the guy shot himself in the head. Having an armed officer on sight ended the issue. Had the officer not been there, the kid could have been on his way to find victim #2
-
What victim #2? That's pure speculation on your part. This was not the standard mass shooting where he was trying to kill as many people as possible.
-
And, since you feel free to speculate about other possible victims, why not also speculate that killing himself was part of his original plan, and the only thing the officer changed was the timing?

I am very proud of these young people, they are focus, passionate and understand the importance of the time they are living in, it's about all
-
Where are we at as a country if police are refused service at a restaurant in Oakland and kids are speaking out against a police presence there to protect them? Someone stop this madness!!!
#oakland#msd#SchoolShooting -
Police should be served as any other ordinary citizen in American and treated with respect. People also should not have to feel afraid of police due to inherent racial bias that is seen by POC fairly often. I agree, the madness should stop.
