Finance

As the Minister for Finance in the Andrews Labor Government it is my responsibility to oversee areas such as government expenditure, financial management, procurement, insurance and land sales. I am also the Minister responsible for WorkSafe and for the insurance operations of the Transport Accident Commission (TAC).

I am driven to ensure the State’s finances are managed responsibly and that resources are allocated fairly and put to their highest and best use like investment in schools, hospitals, roads and services.

WorkSafe
I strongly believe that every worker has the right to go to work and return home safely every day. Workplace health and safety is a key priority of the Andrews Labor Government, as is ensuring that injured workers are given the support they need to get back to work.

The previous Coalition Government took over $500 million in dividends out of the Victorian WorkCover Authority (now Worksafe) and abolished the successful WorkHealth program.

The Labor Government will ensure that any surplus accumulated in WorkSafe is invested in measures that support workers health and safety, and we will re-establish and expand WorkHealth.

TAC
The TAC is a Victorian Government owned organisation that pays for treatment and benefits for people injured in transport accidents, promotes road safety and improves Victoria’s trauma system.

The TAC is an incredible asset for the people of Victoria and I am committed to ensuring the scheme remains financially stable so that it can continue to provide support and treatment for those injured in transport accidents.
