The Jews (/dʒuːz/;Hebrew: יְהוּדִים ISO 259-3 Yehudim, Israeli pronunciation [jehuˈdim]), also known as the Jewish people, are an ethnoreligious group originating from the Israelites, or Hebrews, of the Ancient Near East. Jewish ethnicity, nationhood and religion are strongly interrelated, as Judaism is the traditional faith of the Jewish nation, while its observance varies from strict observance to complete nonobservance.
The Jews trace their ethnogenesis to the part of the Levant known as the Land of Israel. The discovery of the Merneptah Stele confirms the existence of the people of Israel in Canaan as far back as the 13th century BCE. Since then, while maintaining rule over their homeland during certain periods—such as under the Kingdom of Israel, the Kingdom of Judah, the Hasmonean Dynasty, and the Herodian Kingdom—Jews also suffered various exiles and occupations from their homeland—from Ancient Egyptian Occupation of the Levant, to Assyrian Captivity and Exile, to Babylonian Captivity and Exile, to Greek Occupation and Exile, to the Roman Occupation and Exile. These events subjected Jews to slavery, pogroms, cultural assimilation, forced expulsions, genocide, and more, scattering Jews all around the world, in what is known today as the Jewish diaspora.
The Story of the Jews is a television series, in five parts, presented by British historian Simon Schama. It was broadcast in the United Kingdom on BBC Two in September 2013 and in the United States on PBS in March and April 2014.
It is based on Schama's book of the same title, which is in two volumes. The first volume was published in September 2013.
In a review for The Daily Telegraph, Neil Midgley described the first episode as a "resounding success", saying: "Schama told the story efficiently and evocatively – and deftly picked out stories that would illustrate his overarching thesis about how Judaism managed to survive...In Schama’s view, to be a Jew is to be verbal...By the end of this first episode, Schama had given the title of his programme an intriguing double meaning. Over its four remaining parts, The Story of the Jews promises to be not only a chronological history, but also a common narrative of what unifies and fortifies Jewish people".

"Want To" is a song co-written and recorded by American country music duo Sugarland. It was released in August 2006 as the first single from the album Enjoy the Ride. It was their first single not to feature former member Kristen Hall, although Jennifer Nettles had previously been featured on Bon Jovi's Number One country hit, "Who Says You Can't Go Home", the song was also the first regular Number One hit of Sugarland's career in the U.S., spending two weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts in late 2006. The duo's members, Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush, wrote the song along with Bobby Pinson. The song has sold 856,000 copies in the US as of April 2013.
Judaism (from Latin: Iudaismus, derived from Greek Ἰουδαϊσμός, originally from Hebrew יהודה, Yehudah, "Judah"; in Hebrew: יהדות, Yahadut, the distinctive characteristics of the Judean ethnos) encompasses the religion, philosophy, culture and way of life of the Jewish people. Judaism is an ancient monotheistic religion, with the Torah as its foundational text (part of the larger text known as the Tanakh or Hebrew Bible), and supplemental oral tradition represented by later texts such as the Midrash and the Talmud. Judaism is considered by religious Jews to be the expression of the covenantal relationship that God established with the Children of Israel.

For more, visit http://www.pbs.org/wnet/story-jews The monotheistic God of the Jews, faceless, formless, invisible and very much on his own, was slow to emerge from the crowd of rival Gods worshipped in the ancient world. But there would be another way for the Jews to approach their God directly: the Hebrew Bible.

Over a thousand years ago, Cairo was home to one of the most thriving Jewish communities in the world. And that story was repeated across the eastern Mediterranean and in Arabia itself, the birthplace of a powerful new monotheistic faith: Islam. With no accusation of Christ-killing to contend with, Jews under Islamic rule were spared the demonization they suffered in Christendom. According to later Islamic sources, there seems to have been an early moment when Jews and Muslims might have been part of th...

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sparked public uproar when on Wednesday he claimed that the Mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Amin al-Husseini, was the one who planted the idea of the extermination of European Jewry in Adolf Hitler's mind. The Nazi ruler, Netanyahu said, had no intention of killing the Jews, but only to expel them. In a speech before the World Zionist Congress i...

What World-famous Men have said About the Jews Introduction The Jews are the only people in the world who have found hostility in every country in which they settled in any numbers. The big question is -- WHY? Today it is taught in the schools that "Anti-Semitism" began in Germany in the 1930s after which they were deported. What is not studied is the fact that at one time or other the Jews have been expelled from every nation in Europe! When the Jews first began to immigrate to America the early colonialists in New York, Charleston and Savannah tried to ban their entry. Benjamin Franklin pleaded with the members of the Continental Congress to enter a specific ban against Jewish immigration into the U. S. Constitution to bar them for all time to come. The Jews claim that they are "only...

This documentary is about ‘punk’ Jews. Like most religious cultures, Judaism is struggling to bridge the gap between tradition an...

The Antiquities of the Jews audiobook by Flavius Josephus (37--c.100) http://free-audio-books.info/history/the-antiquities-of-the-jews-audiobook/ Translated by William Whiston (1667-1752) Antiquities of the Jews was a work published by the important Jewish historian Flavius Josephus about the year 93 or 94. It is a history of the Jewish people, written in Greek for Josephus' gentile patrons. Beginning with the creation of Adam and Eve, it follows the events of the historical books of the Hebrew Bible, but sometimes omits or adds information. (Summary by Wikipedia) Volume 1 contains Books 1-5 and ends with the dedication of Samuel and death of Eli the priest.
Documentary on the history of Judaism, the Bible (Torah/Tanakh) and the Jewish people of Israel. This documentary focuses on many accepts of the origins of the Jewish religion known today as Judaism, as well as the historical and archeological proof that the Jews are Canaanites in origin. The Bible and other historical records have proven that the Hebrew Israelites were Canaanites themselves who seperated themselves from the "higher class" Canaanite rulers who were pagans. These Canaanites who began believing in only one God became known as the Hebrew Israelites and later in history as Jews (Judeans) and Samaritans. From there the documentary focuses on how Judaism evolved during the Assyrian and Babylonian exile and so on.

It is commonly assumed that most Jews in Germany during the Second World War were exterminated, worked to death or saved ‘Schindler style’ by Gentiles. A surprisingly high number from one city defied the odds and saved themselves. The Jews who survived in Berlin were vibrant, devious, clever and very, very lucky. Five of them tell their stories and reveal their survival techniques. Cantankerous, egotistical and irresistible, the outstanding spirit that helped them survive is still undimmed. This programme is more than just a wartime human interest story. It seeks to show that not all wartime Jews were passive, obedient victims. They were real people who knew how to fight back.
