Marvel’s upcoming Black Panther film will mark the first solo outing for the character and the first live-action depiction of his home, Wakanda. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Wakanda imagines an isolated African nation whose borders have never been penetrated by colonizers or conquerers—at least none who can live to tell the tale. It’s also famous for its large vibranium reserves, which contribute to its technological advancement. Tasked with bringing this world to life is production designer Hannah Beachler. In the video above, Beachler discusses working with director Ryan Coogler, and the challenge of balancing technologically advanced design, with a country whose African traditions were never influenced by colonization.

Komal Nahta speaks to Production Designer Boishali Sinha. Boishali explains that Production Designing is a part of Art Direction and is an important part of filmmaking which involves making sets. Boishlai has done Masters in Fine Arts from France and did a lot of work there.
Boishali describes how she was interested in fine arts and movies since childhood. Boishali came back to India in 2011 and shifted to Mumbai to begin her career in Bollywood. She assisted Wasik Khan in Rowdy Rathore.
Boishali describes how she preps up for making up of sets and how she deals with everyone during her work. She has done movies like Total Siyapaa, Gabbar Is Back, Yaara Silly Silly. Boishali’s latest movie Chalk N Duster as a production designer is releasing on Jan 15, 2016.

Production designer
In film and television, a production designer or P.D is the person responsible for the overall look of a filmed event such as a TV program, video game, music video, or advertisement. Production designers have a key creative role in the creation of motion pictures and television. Working directly with the director and producer, they must select the settings and style to visually tell the story. The term "production designer" was coined by William Cameron Menzies while he was working on the film Gone with the Wind. Previously (and often subsequently) the people with the same responsibilities were called "art directors".
Societies and trade organizations
In the United States and Europe as well as Mexico, production designers are represented by IATSE local 800; the Art Directors Guild. The production design credit must be requested by the producer, prior to completion of photography, and submitted to the Art Directors Guild Board of Directors for the credit approval. In Canada, production designers are represented by the Director's Guild of Canada, except in British Columbia where they are represented by IATSE.

Blade Runner
Blade Runner is a 1982 American neo-noir science fiction film directed by Ridley Scott, and starring Harrison Ford, Rutger Hauer, Sean Young, and Edward James Olmos. The screenplay, written by Hampton Fancher and David Peoples, is a modified film adaptation of the 1968 novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick.
The film depicts a dystopian Los Angeles in which genetically engineered replicants, which are visually indistinguishable from adult humans, are manufactured by the powerful Tyrell Corporation. The use of replicants on Earth is banned and they are exclusively utilized for dangerous or menial work on off-world colonies. Replicants who defy the ban and return to Earth are hunted down and killed ("retired") by special police operatives known as "Blade Runners". The plot focuses on a group of recently escaped replicants hiding in L.A. and the burnt-out expert Blade Runner, Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), who reluctantly agrees to take on one more assignment to hunt them down.

Denis Villeneuve
Denis Villeneuve (French: [dəni vilnœv]; born October 3, 1967) is a Canadian film director and writer. He is a three-time winner of the Genie Award for Best Director, for Maelström in 2001, Polytechnique in 2010 and Incendies in 2011. All three films also won the Best Picture award. Internationally, he is best known for his crime-thrillers Prisoners and Sicario.
Early life
Villeneuve was born in Gentilly near Trois-Rivières, Quebec.
Career
Villeneuve began his career making short films and won the Radio-Canada's youth film competition La Course Europe-Asie in 1990–91.
Breakthrough
Villeneuve first caught attention for his 2001 film Maelström which screened at festivals worldwide and won dozens of awards, including 8 Jutra awards and 'Best Canadian Film' from the Toronto International Film Festival. He followed that up with the controversial, but critically acclaimed film Polytechnique (2009) about the shootings that occurred at the Montreal university.
Villeneuve's career exploded further with his film Incendies (2010) which received critical acclaim after it premiered at the Venice and Toronto International Film Festivals in 2010. Incendies was subsequently chosen to represent Canada at the 83rd Academy Awards in the category of Best Foreign Language Film and was eventually nominated for the award. In January 2011 he was selected as one of the top ten filmmakers to watch. The film went on to win eight awards at the 31st Genie Awards, including Best Picture, Best Actress (Lubna Azabal), Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Cinematography, Editing, Overall Sound and Sound Editing.

Crash Course
Crash Course (also known as Driving Academy) is a 1988 made for television teen film directed by Oz Scott.
Plot
Crash Course centers on a group of high schoolers in a driver’s education class; many for the second or third time. The recently divorced teacher, super-passive Larry Pearl, is on thin ice with the football fanatic principal, Principal Paulson, who is being pressured by the district superintendent to raise driver’s education completion rates or lose his coveted football program. With this in mind, Principal Paulson and his assistant, with a secret desire for his job, Abner Frasier, hire an outside driver’s education instructor with a very tough reputation, Edna Savage, aka E.W. Savage, who quickly takes control of the class.
The plot focuses mostly on the students and their interactions with their teachers and each other. In the beginning, Rico is the loner with just a few friends, Chadley is the bookish nerd with few friends who longs to be cool and also longs to be a part of Vanessa’s life who is the young, friendly and attractive girl who had to fake her mother’s signature on her driver’s education permission slip. Kichi is the hip-hop Asian kid who often raps what he has to say and constantly flirts with Maria, the rich foreign girl who thinks that the right-of-way on the roadways always goes to (insert awesomely fake foreign Latino accent) “my father’s limo”. Finally you have stereotypical football meathead J.J., who needs to pass his English exam to keep his eligibility and constantly asks out and gets rejected by Alice, the tomboy whose father owns “Santini & Son” Concrete Company. Alice is portrayed as being the “son” her father wanted.

Plot: The film is set in a small town near Warsaw, to which a young and coming director comes to produce a classic play (Wyspianski "Wyzwolenie") with a modern vein. Marvel’s upcoming Black Panther film will mark the first solo outing for the character and the first live-action depiction of his home, Wakanda. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Wakanda imagines an isolated African nation whose borders have never been penetrated by colonizers or conquerers—at least none who can live to tell the tale. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Wakanda imagines an isolated African nation whose borders have never been penetrated by colonizers or conquerers—at least none who can live to tell the tale. It’s also famous for its large vibranium reserves, which contribute to its technological advancement. Tasked with bringing this world to life is production designer Hannah Beachler. In the video above, Beachler discusses working with director Ryan Coogler, and the challenge of balancing technologically advanced design, with a country whose African traditions were never influenced by colonization.

Komal Nahta speaks to Production Designer Boishali Sinha. Boishali explains that Production Designing is a part of Art Direction and is an important part of filmmaking which involves making sets. Boishlai has done Masters in Fine Arts from France and did a lot of work there.
Boishali describes how she was interested in fine arts and movies since childhood. Boishali came back to India in 2011 and shifted to Mumbai to begin her career in Bollywood. She assisted Wasik Khan in Rowdy Rathore.
Boishali describes how she preps up for making up of sets and how she deals with everyone during her work. She has done movies like Total Siyapaa, Gabbar Is Back, Yaara Silly Silly. Boishali’s latest movie Chalk N Duster as a production designer is releasing on Jan 15, 2016.

Paul Austerberry was excited and terrified simultaneously when he was told in 2015 about Guillermo del Toro’s “then-untitled fish movie.” What eventually became a current awards’ season darling, The Shape of Water, was originally discussed with Austerberry as “Guillermo’s passion project — a small black-and-white film. During this fascinating discussion, Leese talks the audience through the process of starting with a script and breaking it down to its design components, and explains the inferences and choices a designer might have to make to create the space for the script to be filmed.
"We like metaphors, and we like symbolism," jokes Leese with the audience. "But that’s the trick, that’s what it’s about: it’s about thinking about these characters. What do they do? What do they say? Could we look a bit deeper inside them and can we use some of that to influence the environment? And it could be little droplets, little clues, that you don’t notice ‘til later on."

The fact is that a movie is only as good as its “below the line” crew, and all of us at Collider have long felt that they aren’t given enough credit. To try and rectify this, you can look forward to more interviews with costume designers, production designers, composers, editors, cinematographers, and other craftspeople that work to bring these stories to life.
In this spirit, I recently sat down with The Martian production designer Arthur Max. Unlike most interviews where we tend to focus on one film, I used my time with him to talk about the job as a whole, and what goes on behind the scenes. Of course we also talked about making The Martian, collaborating with Ridley Scott, developing their own gravity wheel that recalls 2001: A Space Odyssey, an unannounced 15th century medieval fantasy movie he’s working on instead of the new Alien movie, and more. Paul Austerberry was excited and terrified simultaneously when he was told in 2015 about Guillermo del Toro’s “then-untitled fish movie.” What eventually became a current awards’ season darling, The Shape of Water, was originally discussed with Austerberry as “Guillermo’s passion project — a small black-and-white film. I was a bit terrified, because color is pretty important as a tool for design, to tell a story.”
Austerberry forged ahead, and then Fox Searchlight signed up and offered a bigger budget, transforming the project into a color film. Nevertheless, a ream of design challenges lay ahead. The movie is a genre-mixed Cold War-era thriller on the one hand, and a romantic and mysterious fairy tale on another about a Elisa (Sally Hawkins), a mute cleaning woman who discovers, at the height of the Cold War at the facility where she works the night shift, that the government is experimenting on a reptilian fish-man (Doug Jones) discovered in the remotest part of the Amazon. And then, she falls in love with it, setting in motion an incident with international implications.
