Are you sure about that Anna? I have not seen any objective calculations for that 50,000 claim and until I do it is highly contentious in my view.

Check the channel 4 fact check it’s all in there!

I read that and couldn't find the justification for the 50,000. Can you enlighten me then?
-
Coz here's the thing. I find DFE numbers stating that 711,000 claimed FSM in 2013. I'd be surprised if that had gone down since. So if 650,000 claims in new system that's 61,000 LESS.
-
In fact, I just found an update from Jan 2017. It had give up slightly to 727,000 so the Tory stats are definitely dodgy
-
Yes currently everyone on UC has the right, so you may expect it to raise because of that. Doesn’t mean it wasn’t an interim solution though. And these won’t lose it anyway.
-
That's why I'm comparing the old system with the new system, and the that shows the number of claimants will drop by 71,000, not increase by 50,000. The govt numbers are out by 120,000.
-
But either way, we can both agree it’s not the 1 million labour are claiming. Would be nice to have some clear documentation / figures. Sure.

You've cut eligibility by around 1 million, yet not for your mates in Northern Ireland. That accurate enough for you?
-
No we haven’t. That’s not true see channel4Factcheck
-
I have. The system that you are introducing will mean around 1 million will not be eligible that would have been under the previous system in future. But you've exempted Northern Ireland from the changes. Or are you disputing that the level there is £14,000 instead of £7,400?
-
Come on Anna, let’s hear your comeback from that?

Still waiting Anna

Do you think any MP meals should be subsidised ahead of a child's?
-
They aren’t. Free school meals continue & more will be eligible to have them
-
Prices at Parliament are subsidised below London averages by public funds, and every constituency has children that could benefit from that funding ahead well paid public servants. (And I loathe linking to the Mail)http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4713580/amp/Subsidy-MPs-bars-restaurants-rises-2-7m.html …

ALL children in state schools should get free school meals, regardless of means. 50,000 children is a drop in the ocean and doesn’t represent anything like the number who need them, whose families are having to use food banks because of your party’s policies.
-
50k extra children not total. Oh dear you should be able to do better than that!
-
Extra, not total. Precisely my point. 50k extra is in no way sufficient.
