Wannabe (song)

"Wannabe" is the debut single by the British girl group the Spice Girls. Written by the group members with Matt Rowe and Richard Stannard during the group's first professional songwriting session, it was produced by Rowe and Stannard for the group's debut album Spice, released in November 1996. The song was written and recorded very quickly; the result was considered lacklustre by their label, and was sent to be mixed by Dave Way. The group was not pleased with the result, and the recording was mixed again, this time by Mark "Spike" Stent.

"Wannabe" is an uptempo dance-pop and pop-rap song that incorporates a mix of hip hop and rap. The lyrics, which address the value of female friendship over the heterosexual bond, became an iconic symbol of female empowerment and the most emblematic song of the group's Girl Power philosophy. Despite receiving mixed reviews from music critics, the song won for Best British-Written Single at the 1997 Ivor Novello Awards and for Best Single at the 1997 BRIT Awards.

Spice Girls

The Spice Girls are an English pop girl group formed in 1994. The group consists of Melanie Brown ("Scary Spice"), Melanie Chisholm ("Sporty Spice"), Emma Bunton ("Baby Spice"), Geri Halliwell ("Ginger Spice"), and Victoria Beckham, née Adams ("Posh Spice"). They were signed to Virgin Records and released their debut single "Wannabe" in 1996, which hit number one in 37 countries and established them as a global phenomenon. Their debut album Spice sold more than 30 million copies worldwide, becoming the best-selling album by a female group in history. Their follow up album Spiceworld sold over 20 million copies worldwide. The Spice Girls have sold over 80 million records worldwide, making them the best-selling female group of all time, one of the best-selling pop groups of all time, and the biggest British pop phenomenon since Beatlemania.

Measures of their success include international record sales, a 2007–2008 reunion tour, merchandising, record-breaking achievements, iconic symbolism such as Halliwell's Union Jack dress representing "girl power", and a film, Spice World. Brett Eldredge

Brett Ryan Eldredge (born March 23, 1986) is an American country music singer signed to Atlantic Records Nashville. The cousin of Terry Eldredge of The Grascals, Eldredge has had three No. 1 singles on US Country Airplay from his debut album Bring You Back: "Don't Ya", "Beat of the Music", and "Mean to Me".

Life and career

Eldredge was raised in Paris, Illinois, the son of Robin Beth (Vonderlage) and Christopher "Chris" Eldredge. His cousin, Terry Eldredge, is a member of The Grascals.

He co-wrote the track "I Think I've Had Enough" for Gary Allan, who recorded it for his album Get Off on the Pain. By late 2010 he had signed to Atlantic Records and released his debut single, "Raymond" on September 27, 2010. It debuted at number 52 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs chart dated for the week ending October 16, 2010 and reached a peak of number 23. "It Ain't Gotta Be Love" was released as his second single and reached number 46. Eldredge performed on the Grand Ole Opry on October 29, 2010.
