Misanthropic Wild Tendencies: Other expressions of authoritarianism and sacred thought

Given the recent proliferation of eco-extremism and some opinions expressed in the broadcast media related to this tendency, the need arises for this text. Without pretending to engage in a dialogue, we will clarify a few things that seem essential to us.
For several years now, various individuals from different parts of the American continent (especially from the territory dominated by the Mexican State) close to the positions and struggles against civilization, gave shape to a trend that they called “eco-extremism”.
What is eco-extremism? Although there are subtle differences between those who are placed under that concept, we can more or less talk about a consensus among them, since they see the whole of humanity as their enemy; that humanity and it’s civilization is incompatible with Wild Nature.
They understand that the war against civilization is indiscriminate, so any person would represent an enemy. Since humanity is the problem, anyone can be the target, regardless of gender, economic condition, age, etc. The forms of attack of these groups are inspired by the most diverse experiences, so they do not mind picking up the “teachings”(I) of religious fanatics such as ISIS or political parties that wager for national liberation, as their indiscriminate methods serve them. Of Indiscriminate Attacks and Wild Reactions (USA)

As we’ll be publishing a collection of the critiques of “eco-extremism” from the nihilist-anarchist and anarchist-insurrectionalist tendency that were previously published on our site and elsewhere, we republish this PDF which looks slightly deeper into the Little Black Cart published journal, Atassa, and the Church of ITS Mexico, as largely our tendency has not seen fit to waste too many words on anything other than dismissals of this crap. Although we really disagree with the author’s overarching positions on many topics “Letter to the Anarchist Galaxy”, “Nihilist Recuperation” etc, that they use to give frame to their argument and find the tedious referencing and ‘social-insurrectionary’ style to be repetitive, fanciful, lengthy and overcooked (which is a typical feature of these kind of texts from that sector of the solar-system), nevertheless we think it’s an interesting addition to the salt of critique advancing the dialogue against green authoritarianism and wee dafties. Where arrogance and stupidity meet, nothing good comes!!

Author’s Note to IGD readers: This essay was written a year ago, in haste. It was prompted by the escalation in 2017 of conflict between insurrectionary anarchists and proponents of a new school of purportedly anti-civilization ideology known as “Eco-Extremism”, both in Mexico and the US. This conflict was signaled in part by the appearance of a US journal called Atassa: readings in Eco-Extremism, which presented ideas and writings associated with the armed struggle group known as Individualidades tendiendo a lo Salvaje, abbreviated ITS but most often translated from the Spanish as Individualists Tending toward the Wild (a group with a history stretching back to around 2011).
Some of you will remember the publication around the same time of two brief pieces of news/criticism on It’s Going Down by Scott Campbell (“There’s Nothing Anarchist About Eco-Fascism,” and “Not Our Comrades: ITS Attacks on Anarchists”) which also dealt with this conflict. These pieces appeared in the wake of ITS claims of responsibility for various apparently misogynistic or random murders, physical attacks on anarchists, and a ramping up of reactionary rhetoric on the part of the mysterious and media-savvy group. Fast forward to recent weeks, and a slew of the online Egoist milieu has issued its own analyses and condemnations of ITS, Atassa, and Eco-Extremist ideas in what appears to be an ongoing fallout. This is neither intended to be a retort nor an attempt to disarm any discourse, nor a criticism. It is a response to a series of threats received by email and I think this has made these people definitely touch the bottom and they cannot become more ridiculous.
There have been several critical texts and reflections from different parts of the world that have been raised in recent months against ITS in Mexico and in general against the tendency that calls themselves “eco-extremists”. We can read the contributions of insurrectionary anarchist groups in Mexico, as well as critiques of other comrades like Eat, in Indonesia, criticism made by one of the people who runs the blog ‘It’s Going Down!’ in North America, or the two texts published from the United Kingdom, titled “Eco-extremism and the Indiscriminate Attack – The Church of ITS Mexico” and “Darko Mathers was not an Eco-Fascist“. It was quite obvious that from that the “eco-extremist” tendency would be answered. After all, in recent years, the dialectic between different groups of direct action against domination (whether they consider themselves anarchists or not) has been constant, taking advantage of the actions to establish a fruitful dialogue that sharpens theory and practice, improving the blows of those people who were punctual and strategic or as an already unavoidable part of their lives, had opted to attack here and now. And of course, the replicas of the ITR (Individualities Tending toward the Ridiculous) did not wait, although I have to say that they were even more disappointing than we would have imagined at first (and that my expectations were difficult to overcome). Han pasado tres años desde que mi gran amigo y compañero Darko Mathers murió, la última vez que lo vi terminamos la colección de textos contra el anarquismo civil y poco tiempo después de eso murió. No fue impactante para mí. Muchos de mis amigos han muerto o han ido a prisión y mientras más me hago viejo, evalúo mis experiencias con ellos y nuestros recuerdos compartidos, mucho más a medida que esos recuerdos se profundizaban, entonces empecé a vivir de manera diferente. Respeto mis recuerdos de este joven compañero pero me resisto contra las condiciones de su muerte.
Cuando un amigo cercano y compañero muere repentinamente genera todo tipo de sensaciones dolorosas, muchas de ellas pueden parecer totalmente anti sociales; los que se quedan a menudo discuten entre sí, separaciones, rupturas, surgen los problemas pero también algunas cosas dulces. It’s been three years since my close friend and comrade Darko Mathers died, the last time I saw him we finished the collection of texts against civil anarchism and shortly after he was dead. It was not a shock to me. Many of my friends are dead or have gone to prison and as I’ve gotten older I value my experiences of them and our shared memories much more as those remembrances deepened and so I began living differently. I respect my memories of this young comrade and I strive against the conditions of his death.
When a dear friend and comrade dies suddenly, it causes all kinds of grief to happen, a lot of it can seem totally anti-social, those left behind often argue among themselves, depart, breakdown, problems occur, some sweetnesses too. In the end what remains are the fleeting traces in time, which reflect forwards into the future and back into the past, that the individual has left with those close and not so close ones. (more…)

It is sad to see “them” resorting to such incoherent, deluded, and even ahistorical if not unfactual analysis of contemporary anarchism and its various movements, successes and failures. It is even more sadder that the critique was poorly written. If the FAI never accomplished anything as the critique said, it is because FAI ideas were and are always to be put on trial of practice and its diverse variants. There is no monopoly of narrow individualism in the FAI as far as I comprehend it, as it is just an idea to encourage anarchists to attack with informal and antiorganisationalist forms (even this also is always within a context), because “it” [FAI] doesn’t believe in the binary logic that this critique does. While the critique seemed, at first, to try to dismiss a binary vision of the world it falls on the same mistakes when it doesn’t even know nor understand how they or their moralistic-triumphant-over-others-methods originated and empowered.
While I was in full support of ITS in attacking technocrats, NGOs, and its effort in deconstructing the western anarchist moralistic-christian tendency, they too fall to the same logic as their so “ideological enemies of gringo” anarchism. (more…)

I don’t represent any organisation or group, I am writing this from my personal perspective, as nihilist-anarchist of an anti-civilisation insurrectional tendency. I have carried out direct action in defense of the Earth, so the state and society would probably view me as an “Eco-Extremist”, although I’m unconcerned with this term as it’s become a sect-like ideology of the Church. I haven’t written before about the Church of ITS Mexico or the idiot pseudo-nihilist(s) in Italy because over the last few years they clearly became reactionary and more akin to far-right ‘black’ groupscules.
It has been some years since the Church of ITS Mexico said something like that ‘the FAI doesn’t represent us’, that the ‘CCF doesn’t represent us’… Well I can’t recall anything like that being said by CCF or FAI or anyone else in the first place, so why is the ITS Church still issuing sermons about it now and why have they not embarked on a one-way trip far away from the black anarchy they proclaim is irrelevant and gone off into the nihilising abyss like they said they would, leaving all us anarchist nuns alone? Some things shouldn’t have to be said, but as is too often the case in this disaster of a world, that which should be most obvious often gets subsumed to the exigencies of politics, ideologies, money, emotion, or internet clicks. The purpose of this piece is to condemn the recent acts of eco-extremists in Mexico and those who cheer them on from abroad.
This critique does not aspire to alter the behavior of Individualists Tending Toward the Wild (ITS), Individualities Tending Toward the Wild (ITS), Wild Reaction (RS), Indiscriminate Group Tending Toward the Wild (GITS), Eco-extremist Mafia, or whatever they will change their name to tomorrow. Like any other deluded, sociopathic tyrant, these individuals have declared themselves above reproach, critique, reason, or accountability. They have appointed themselves judge, jury, and executioner; the guardians and enforcers of Truth using a romanticized past to justify their actions. As absolutist authoritarians, they have constructed a theoretical framework that, while ever-shifting and inconsistent, somehow always ends with a justification for why they get to hold a knife to the throats of all of humankind. It has been five months since I returned to inhabit the cells of the Maximum Security Section of the High Security Prison and I think it is necessary to refer to both the personal and the prison scenario. The reasons for not writing before are obviously personal; but more than anything it is due to the belief – despite being convinced that sharing experiences generates inexhaustible links – that the virtual platforms and their set of communications is far removed from the real and approaches an abstract idea of the day to day life of jail and that of the individual. Irreducible? Yes, whether or not there is a swing of emotions, neither conviction nor mind falters, but that disgusting idea of the steel martyr behind the bars must fall. Ya han pasado cinco meses desde que volví a habitar las celdas de la Sección Máxima Seguridad del C.A.S y creo que es necesario referirme tanto a lo personal como al escenario carcelario. Las razones para no escribir antes son, obviamente, personales; pero más que nada son debido a la creencia -a pesar de ser un convencido de que el compartir experiencias genera lazos impagables- de que la plataforma virtual y su conjunto de comunicados se aleja mucho de lo real y se acerca a una idea abstracta del día a día carcelario e individual. ¿Irreductible? Sí, exista o no un vaivén emocional, ni la convicción ni la mente flaquean, pero esa asquerosa idea del mártir de acero tras los barrotes debe caer. Por el suicidio de la imagen y el fetiche, por la real complicidad destructora.

En rigor de la verdad, en principio este texto iba a ser una respuesta al “debate amoral” planteado hace ya algún tiempo. Y ciertamente la idea nos desagradaba. Pues siempre hemos preferido vías de comunicación mas intimas, sabiendo por supuesto que no están exentas a la execrable mirada del enemigo, pero para nada nos seducía la idea de convertirnos en la nueva novela cibernética, y viendo que la cosa se iba desarrollando en ese sentido, preferimos guardar silencio, sin permitir que nadie nos imponga sus tiempos ni sus ritmos. Así, durante los últimos meses, fuimos compartiendo (tanto yo como otros compas) y debatiendo con compañeros, de blogs, de revistas, con alguno de los mismos grupúsculos eco extremistas o con alguno de sus medios de difusión, o con compañeros sin ningún proyecto publico que demostrar, tanto de esta como de otra región, tanto via mail como en persona.
