Annual Reports

 

The Federation’s 2016-2017 report comes at the end of an epic, two year campaign to save community legal centres from massive federal government funding cuts (of 30%.) CLCs around Australia pulled together and won the day: stopping the funding cuts at the last minute, just days ahead of the Federal Budget being handed down.

In the annual report, we also reflect on our ‘Smart Justice’ project. Smart Justice is a coalition of 35 organisations led by the Federation, and during 2016-2017 we campaigned hard for alternatives to prisons and justice for Indigenous children and young people.

The annual report also covers a wide array of sector activities and accomplishments, including the achievements of the Federation’s many working groups, CLC participation in family violence reform in Victoria, and work by leading CLCs on issues such as homelessness, infringements, police accountability and women’s and children’s rights.
