IT support contractor log
The idea of a log to record IT issues/problems is a simple but effective way to keep an eye on things.
It's as easy as creating a table in Word with the following headings.
Date | Reported by | Problem | Response of IT contractor | Completed Yes/No |
Make copies, and keep the log in a folder that all staff have access to or share the word document and do it electronically.
The IT contractor would be required to respond after each visit. If you can't get them to do it in writing you should document their response at the end of their visit.
Benefits
The benefits include:
- a record of decisions that have been jointly made by you and your IT support contractors
- an audit trail to visit if there are any misunderstandings
- keeping the IT support contractors focused on the jobs you prioritize
- keeping you focussed on providing meaningful direction to the IT support contractors.
