Eccles may refer to:
See Eccles (surname)
Henri Eccles (1670–1742) was an English composer.
He was the son of composer Solomon Eccles and the brother of composer John Eccles.
He played in the court of King Louis XIV. However, conceiving himself neglected in England, he went to Paris, where he was admitted a member of the French King's band. In 1720 he published there, in two books, Twelve Solos for the Violin. The first book of these sonatas contains adaptations from Giuseppe Valentini's op. 8, which Eccles lay under his contribution for his slow movements, supplying only the perfunctory quick ones himself. In 1723, Eccles produced twelve sonatas for Violin and Figured Bass, most notably the Sonata in G minor. These sonatas were influenced heavily by the work of Giovanni Valentini.
The Goon is a comic book series written and drawn by Eric Powell (with colors often by Dave Stewart, Eric or Eric's brother, Robin). The series mixes both a comical and violent atmosphere with a supernatural slant, which pit the titular character against undead creatures/zombies, ghosts, ghouls, mutants, skunk-apes with an unnatural hunger for pies, giant squids, mob/gang leaders, extra-dimensional aliens, mad scientists and robots.
An early prototype of The Goon was first published in 1995, in a book called Best Cellars #1 from Out of the Cellar Comics. This prototype was called Monster Boy, and the story was written and illustrated by Eric Powell.
The Goon debuted in Dreamwalker #0 (March 1998, Avatar Press) in a 4-page Preview, which is the true first appearance of the character (later reprinted as the third story in the Goon #1). Powell was unhappy with the quality of the Avatar Press comics after just 3 issues, so he stopped handing in new material and waited for his contract to expire. Once that happened, he was unable to find another publisher, so he moved into self-publishing in 2002 with Albatross Exploding Funny Books. These self-published issues caught the eye of Dark Horse Comics, which approached Powell by telling him that they didn't know why they passed on the book, and in 2003 publication of The Goon moved to Dark Horse.
The Goon Show is a British radio comedy programme, originally produced and broadcast by the BBC Home Service from 1951 to 1960, with occasional repeats on the BBC Light Programme. The first series broadcast from 28 May to 20 September 1951, was titled Crazy People; subsequent series had the title The Goon Show, a title inspired, according to Spike Milligan, by a Popeye character.
The show's chief creator and main writer was Spike Milligan. The scripts mixed ludicrous plots with surreal humour, puns, catchphrases and an array of bizarre sound effects. Some of the later episodes feature electronic effects devised by the fledgling BBC Radiophonic Workshop, many of which were reused by other shows for decades. Many elements of the show satirised contemporary life in Britain, parodying aspects of show business, commerce, industry, art, politics, diplomacy, the police, the military, education, class structure, literature and film.
The show was released internationally through the BBC Transcription Services (TS). It was heard regularly from the 1950s in Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, India and Canada, although these TS versions were frequently edited to avoid controversial subjects.NBC began broadcasting the programme on its radio network from the mid-1950s. The programme exercised a considerable influence on the development of British and American comedy and popular culture. It was cited as a major influence by The Beatles and the American comedy team The Firesign Theatre as well as Monty Python and many others.
Time Is is the final studio album recorded by The Idle Race. It was recorded in 1970 after Jeff Lynne had left the band. He was replaced by vocalist Dave Walker and guitarist Mike Hopkins.

Simca Heled, violoncello. Edward Brewer, harpsichord. Henry Eccles (c.1670-1742) was a violinist from Great Britain of possible relation to composer John Eccles. He was employed by the Duke d'Aumont, an ambassador, in 1713 and returned with him to France. There he published his first book of sonatas in 1720. These were dedicated to "Monsieur le Chevalier Gage, Gentilhomme Anglois" -presumably Sir William Gage, baronet of Firle, Sussex. What other patrons Eccles had are unknown. Henry published a second set in 1723. Not much else is known about him except that he had a brother Thomas (c.1672-1745) who also played the violin and was notable for his problems with alcoholism. The first book of sonatas, on the other hand, are quite interesting. During the early Eighteenth Century, there were ...

In this video I'll show you how to make Eccles Cakes, named after the English town of Eccles. They have a great many regional variants -- some with flaky pastry, some with shortcrust, different shapes and sizes -- at the heart of this cake is the good old British favourite -- dried fruits. In this case it's currants, or rather for me, raisins today. I couldn't find currants anywhere so I figured that it couldn't be such a bad thing to use raisins instead. They turned out really well -- golden, flaky, stuffed full of sweet, spice fruit. Check out the full post here: http://www.fiveeurofood.com/index.php/2012/03/eccles-cakes/

Eccles Cakes, from the Lancashire town of Eccles are a delicious pastry filled with currants and chopped peel. The pastry is flaky and buttery and the filling is a fruity, slightly sweet and sticky mxture that makes for a perfect accompaniment to a nice cup of tea. When you're out there on your own
Where your memories can find you
Like a circle goes around
You were lost until you found out
What it all comes down to
One by one
The lonely feelings come
Day by day, they slowly fade away
Ooh, the look was in her eyes
you never know what might be found there
She was dancing right in time
And the looks she made so fine
Like the music that surrounds her
Should I stay or go?
I really want to know
Would I loose or win
If I try and love again?
gonna try and love again
I'm gonna try and love again
gonna try and love
gonna try and love
Right or wrong, what's done is done
It's only moments that we borrow
But the thoughts will linger on
of the lady and her song
When the sun comes up tomorrow
Well, it might take years to see
Through all these tears
Don't let go
When you find it you will know
Oh, Gonna try and love again
gonna try and love again
Sometimes lose, sometimes win,
Sometimes you need a friend
gonna try, gonna try
