The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (abbreviated IITB or IIT Bombay) is a public engineering institution located in Powai, Mumbai, India. In the QS World University Rankings 2014, IIT Bombay was ranked as India’s top university. It is the second-oldest (after Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur) institute of the Indian Institutes of Technology system.
IIT Bombay was founded in 1958. In 1961, the Parliament decreed IITs as Institutes of National Importance. A high-power committee of Government of India recommended in 1946 establishment of four higher institutes of technology to set the direction for the development of technical education in the country. Planning for the Institute at Mumbai began in 1957 and the first batch of 100 students was admitted in 1958. Since its establishment in Powai, the institute has physically expanded to include more than 584 major buildings with a combined area of more than 2.396 gross square feet (550 acres or 2.22 km²).

Mumbai (/mʊmˈbaɪ/; also known as Bombay, the official name until 1995) is the capital city of the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is the most populous city in India and the ninth most populous agglomeration in the world, with an estimated city population of 18.4 million. Along with the neighbouring regions of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, it is one of the most populous urban regions in the world and the seсond most populous metropolitan area in India, with a population of 20.7 million as of 2011. Mumbai lies on the west coast of India and has a deep natural harbour. In 2009, Mumbai was named an alpha world city. It is also the wealthiest city in India, and has the highest GDP of any city in South, West, or Central Asia. Mumbai has the highest number of billionaires and millionaires among all cities in India.
The seven islands that came to constitute Mumbai were home to communities of fishing colonies. For centuries, the islands were under the control of successive indigenous empires before being ceded to the Portuguese and subsequently to the British East India Company when in 1661 King Charles II married the Portuguese Catherine of Braganza, and as part of her dowry Charles received the ports of Tangier and seven islands of Bombay. During the mid-18th century, Bombay was reshaped by the Hornby Vellard project, which undertook reclamation of the area between the seven islands from the sea. Along with construction of major roads and railways, the reclamation project, completed in 1845, transformed Bombay into a major seaport on the Arabian Sea. Bombay in the 19th century was characterized by economic and educational development. During the early 20th century it became a strong base for the Indian independence movement. Upon India's independence in 1947 the city was incorporated into Bombay State. In 1960, following the Samyukta Maharashtra movement, a new state of Maharashtra was created with Bombay as the capital.
David Franklin Hanson, Jr. is an American robotics designer and researcher, responsible for the creation of a series of realistic humanoid robots.
In the 1980s, Hanson spent two years studying at the University of North Texas in Denton. In 1992, he was accepted into the BFA program at Rhode Island School of Design in Providence. He received his Ph.D. in aesthetic studies and interactive arts and engineering from the University of Texas at Dallas in spring of 2007.
Hanson develops human-like robots with realistic facial expressions and conversational abilities [Hanson et al., 2006]. Hanson currently serves as president and founder of Hanson Robotics.
Hanson previously worked at Walt Disney Imagineering.
Hanson’s robots were shown first at the 2002 AAAI conference in Edmonton, Canada [Hanson, 2002] and in 2003, he showed the Kbot at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) annual meeting [Ferber, 2003]. In 2005, Hanson and team received an AAAI award for their "intelligent conversational portrait" of Philip K. Dick [AI Magazine, Fall 2005]. First shown at the 2005 Nextfest, the robot incorporated thousands of pages of the writings of PKD, including journals and letters, into an LSA corpus and conversational system constructeandroid [Hanson et al., 2005]. Hanson's work on the PKD robot is documented in the nonfiction book, How To Build An Android.
Watson is a question answering computer system capable of answering questions posed in natural language, developed in IBM's DeepQA project by a research team led by principal investigator David Ferrucci. Watson was named after IBM's first CEO and industrialist Thomas J. Watson. The computer system was specifically developed to answer questions on the quiz show Jeopardy!. In 2011, Watson competed on Jeopardy! against former winners Brad Rutter and Ken Jennings. Watson received the first place prize of $1 million.
Watson had access to 200 million pages of structured and unstructured content consuming four terabytes of disk storage including the full text of Wikipedia, but was not connected to the Internet during the game. For each clue, Watson's three most probable responses were displayed on the television screen. Watson consistently outperformed its human opponents on the game's signaling device, but had trouble in a few categories, notably those having short clues containing only a few words.

A team of Edinburgh students were they only international participants to travel to Mumbai this week to take part in one event in the Make in India programme. The 'hackathon' at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT) brought together young minds to solve a range of challenges facing India, and the wider world, in the areas of energy and technology. Edinburgh's team worked on an app that sought to enable people to control their home technology remotely, such as adjusting air-conditioning, ensuring an optimum use of energy. The idea is that such software could 'learn' from people's habits and automatically adjust electrical systems to when people need them, saving energy and money. The Edinburgh team not only produced an impressive piece of work within a time-limited context (as...

The first chapter of Collors Trips project takes place in Mumbai, one of the most vibrant cities of India. The main mission of this trip is the painting of a giant wall inside the Mumbai Institute of Technology, made especially for one of the largest technology conventions in the world, the TechFest. The team formed for this mission was composed of five Brazilian artists, each one with its own language and style: AK47 (RJ), BUYU (SP), RIZO (SC), VEJAM (SC), VALDI (SC). During the stay in Mumbai, the group has experiences in the slums of the city, painting on the street, knowing the local culture. Under burning sunlight, lot of spicy food, sprays of bad quality and difficulty to communicate with the local people, this chapter is a perfect debut for Collors Trips. - - - - - - - - - - - - ...

¡Adiós, pampa mía! ...
Me voy...Me voy a tierras extrañas.
Adiós, caminos que he recorrido
ríos, montes, y cañadas,
tapera donde he nacido
Si no volvemos a vernos,
tierra querida,
quiero que sepas
que al irme dejo la vida.
¡Adiós! ...
Al dejarte, pampa mía,
ojos y alma se me llenan
con el verde de tus pastos
y el temblor de las estrellas.
Con el canto de tus vientos
y el sollozar de vihuelas
que me alegraron a veces
y otras me hicieron llorar.
¡Adiós, pampa mía! ...

Adiós, caminos que he recorrido

tapera donde he nacido
Si no volvemos a vernos,
