No to the Trans Adriatic Pipeline, to block everything! (Italy)

Thursday, September 6th, 2018

For a few years now the TAP question has jumped to the headlines.

Precisely since 2013, the TAP consortium was chosen to carry out the construction of a gas pipeline through Turkey, Greece, Albania, the Adriatic Sea right to Italy, with Salento as its final destination so that it could be linked to another gas pipeline, the TANAP, which joins Turkey with Azerbaijan (where natural gas fields are to be found), and finally become SNAM, going up through the Italian Apennines, the so-called ‘Adriatic network’ – up to Austria.

Thousands of kilometres of pipelines, gas pressurization and depressurization plants, thrust wells, micro tunnels to link the mainland and the sea, optic fibres cables along the whole route, construction sites that will destroy landscape and local environments, high risk of accidents and explosions, air pollution, heavy vehicles on the roads for years to come, exponential increase of police forces, industrial transformation of the economy of a whole area and consequent loss of all choices for the people who live there. An example of this is ILVA in Taranto, a few kilometres from Lecce and Melendugno, where the gas pipeline will arrive. (more…)

Urgent call to defend Hambach Forest as the chainsaws and evictions begin (Germany)

Sunday, November 26th, 2017

Urgent Call from HAMBACH FOREST

The courtcase which gave the Forest of Hambach a little more time to prepare for cutting season is lost. RWE started today with clearing bushes to prepare for total cutting. The preparations for an massive police action are obviously building. They announced that they want to evict the whole occupation. We expect them at the latest on Monday for evictions. They are already in the forest protecting machinery.

But to make it possible that Hambach Forest stays we need you and your frieds/comr@des!

At best come around.

At best bring with you:

– sleeping bag, mattress
– your friends
– an idea of what you wanna do (the Infrastructre of RWE is too huge for them to protect it all)
– waterproof boots, camouflage-clothing
– camera (for recording police violence)
– working gloves
– toothbrush
– 1st aid stuff
– rainstuff
– a small tent (not necessary but if you have)
– no drugs
– no passport (if you need it for travelling, bury it somewhere in the woods)

What you can do from outside:

– spread the news
– do what ever you like to show solidarity
– distract police forces (they will need cops from all germany to evict us)
– attack the veins of capitalism & its fossil fuel industry
– dont get caught
– dont forget them in the cages

See you on the barricades

Call for solidarity and resistance – Hambach Forest (Germany)

Monday, November 6th, 2017

Background

The start of October also marks the start of the annual cutting season – the time between October and February during which RWE has permission to clear the forest. The company cuts 70-80ha every year. But not much is left of the Hambach Forest, and the occupied trees are again very close to the clear-cut edge. In order to prevent that the majority of the remaining forest will be cut in the coming months, and the occupation from being evicted, we have to be many. That’s why we hope that as many people as possible can join us this Autumn and Winter – protecting the forest and actively working against climate change and the exploitation of people and the environment.

We have put together a call to action and translated it into different languages. Please help us spread it! (more…)

“Not just any meeting” – Against the ‘SingularityU’ Summit (Italy)

Thursday, September 21st, 2017

[September 27, Rho-Milan]

via actforfreedom:

Not just any meeting

27-28 September 2017
SingularityU Italy Summit – RHO

Singularity is a metaphor taken from physics by Ray Kurzweil, founder of Singularity University, to describe the technological process that will come to merge the human with technology. Therefore, the University of Singularity aims to prepare leaders to apply exponential technologies to respond adequately to the anthropological, social, ecological changes that the technologized world requires.
This is an objective that it is carrying out well of course, given that world leading transhumanist executives and researchers come out of it, and that some of them then join the MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), one of the most important research universities in the world; the DARPA, a government agency of the US Department of Defence for the development of new military technology; Google; Microsoft, to name but a few…

Surely the fact that it is in Silicon Valley, on a piece of land of the NASA, and being partly financed by Google, is a further confirmation of how much the idea of the world it is proposing is shared with those who create and cause the conditions of the ecological and social disaster we find ourselves in. To this disaster then one would like to find a “solution”, putting something into it.

But there’s nothing to worry about! The thing seems to have been found and is an artificial and robotized thing. In fact through the use of technology is thought to be able to deal with what in this conference they call “the great challenges of humanity”: we are assured of the possibility of a radiant future. A future in response to the fear of death and the desire for immortality, promises of cures for diseases, the absorption of pollutants from the environment, the defeat of poverty and famine.

This fabulous prospect must, however, be bartered and the complete acceptance of this technologized world is being asked in exchange. (more…)

Initiatives, projects and some anarchist news… (Philippines)

Friday, August 12th, 2016

Recently the anarchist comrades of Etnikobandido uploaded several posts about their recent activities in Philippines, check out their blog here.

Art, Ecology, Resistance 2016

2015 was recorded to be the hottest year in the history of mankind. Meanwhile the recent typhoon Yolanda was tagged to be the strongest storm, which has already been exceeded by other storms from other countries. Changes in weather patterns has become unexplainably irregular. These are the symptoms of Climate Change, which is for the most part caused by human activity.

People had invented technology that rely on limited sources such as minerals from underground. The act of taking and processing materials like these causes substantial amount of carbon, which heats up the planet at a faster rate. This heat affects the whole world. A cold place snows up easier, while hot places dry up more more easily. It also storms more often in places where rain usually falls. Sadly, this kind of deluge hits developing countries often. Pyhäjoki: both camps evicted, several arrested, one hospitalised due to police brutality (Finland)

Sunday, May 1st, 2016

Repression against those who oppose Fennovoima-Rosatom nuclear power plant project continues: and it’s getting worse and worse. On Friday 29.4. two protest camp sites got evicted at Pyhäjoki, Finland. Police operations were, on Finnish scale, massive.

Not big. Massive. Present were roughly 20 police vans, officers in riot gear, border patrol’s helicopter, sections from both national SWAT teams, dog units and specially equipped riot vans. Police declared the eviction of both camp sites by presenting a legally vague, written police order without even specified locations of the camp sites or other information. Just an order to leave and a declaration that police will arrest everyone “under the police law” it considers to “be connected to the locations” or “able to disrupt public order”.

The majority of the protest campers and Reclaim the Cape-action week participants grouped up and vanished into the forests without negotiating with the police.

As we speak, both sites are being emptied of infrastructure and belongings. Comrades are being searched and picked from the woods. Those been detained are being helped and awaited outside the cells. New campsite is under construction, but not public. (more…)

Drive-by barricade – End of dialogue at Pyhäjoki (Finland)

Monday, April 18th, 2016

Fennovoima-Rosatom tries to build a new nuclear power plant in Pyhäjoki, Finland. Nuclear energy is by every standard outdated technology, financially unprofitable, it increases the centralization of energy production and produces hazardous nuclear waste for generations to come.

On top of it all, Fennovoima-Rosatom is destroying unique nature as we speak and messing up the Bay of Bothnia. The chosen location is a crappy one for a nuclear power plant by any means. Close to sea, close to groundwater. For example, the builders need to lift the ground level with meters to even get to start the constructions.

On Tuesday 12/04 at 6 in the morning we blocked the traffic of the only road leading to the construction site, and the landfills from continuing, by burning a crappy car filled with car tires etc. In the middle of that Fennovoima road.

The paintjob on the car said “Dialog Devil”. That’s our dialogue and that’s what we have to say to everyone demanding dialogue with Fennovoima-Rosatom.

We also want to send our solidarity to Hambach forest occupation where comrades are battling against the climate killing energy giant RWE despite heavy repression against them. One struggle!

Issue #4 of the radical ecology paper ‘L’Urlo della Terra’ is out (Italy)

Monday, March 21st, 2016

In this issue: in Italian language:
– Starting again from Nature
– The struggle against technology: a few thoughts
– Transplants: tears of those who receive and those who give or sell
– Post-human anti-specist crossing
– Fastidious Xylella, unbearable State – Chronology of a false emergency and considerations on the subject
– Leaps in the night…
– A letter to the Expo 2015 catering – Analysis of a counterproductive action
– Solidarity and complicity, on nocivities and the need to oppose them – Notes on the attempted attack on IBM in Switzerland by Silvia Billy Costa and their trial in Italy

EDITORIAL:
What does starting again from Nature mean? Has it been abandoned?

We’re certainly losing interest in it precisely when it deserves all our attention, commitment and energy.
Hearing the urgency for green spaces, environmental dangers, more ecological catastrophes to come, yet another rare and ‘photogenic’ species at risk of extinction… being shouted out by the media every day, our capacity for empathy towards what is less and less around us or under our feet, the Earth, has become saturated.

The daily description of the ongoing ecocide is lost among many other likewise serious events such as war; in this inextricable tangle of cause and effect, one puts up with the impotence in thinking about the future and understanding the present, so much so that certain milieus now incapable of looking beyond have come to the point of even supporting misanthropic theories about human extinction. Announcing Black Seed Issue #4 (USA)

Thursday, December 10th, 2015

From Black Seed:

In This Issue:

* The End of the World?
* Activism and the Green Left
* An Introduction to the Anthropecene
* Interviews with Dominique & Knowing the Land is Resistance
* The Aftermath of the Katrina Disaster
* Anarcho-Primitivism and Green Platonism
* Nihilist Animism
* Reviews & More…

Editorial: Is the End of the World Upon us?

There are plenty of signs that would lead us to believe that this is the case. In
this issue we focus on natural catastrophies, both the incredibly dangerous ways
they’re minimized by government agencies and popular media, as well as our total
lack of collective responsibility, demonstrated by our increasing consumption of
finite resources. Our world has gone mad with profit-for-the-very-few and the
political and social consequences of a world with as great a gap in income levels as
there has ever been are dangerous. How will the next economic crash look compared to the 1930s?

Will it take another war to end the next one? Can we survive such a war?
Finally, is the end of the world visible in how we allow ourselves to be treated by
the State? If Black Lives Matter has taught us anything it is that the human
capacity to objectify and destroy other humans is as high today as it has ever been
and that the rhetoric is even more sophisticated (and not) and even less forgiving.
If the end of the world is a measurable event there is plenty of evidence that the
meter for it is at a near high. (more…)

Paris: COP21 – Tear gas, grenades and hundreds of arrests (France)

Monday, November 30th, 2015

n295

From The Acorn:

Tear gas and grenades were fired by French riot cops against brave activists who defied martial law in France – and more than 200 people were arrested.

Thousands took to the streets of Paris against the hypocrisy of the industrial capitalist system and its phoney COP21 climate summit.

For their pains they were kettled, intimidated, attacked and gassed by the cops. “The state of emergency is a police state, a fascist state!” they shouted in defiance of the brutal force deployed by a state which has been so busily depicting itself as a victim, rather than a perpetrator, of violence.

Activist media reported several hundred arrests, with the police taking arrestees away in buses. (more…)

Communiqués of three comrades on trial following an act of sabotage on a high voltage pylon that took place in 2005 (Italy)

Sunday, November 22nd, 2015

Translated by actforfree from silviacostabillyliberi:

The appeal hearing due on 5th October 2015 was postponed to 19th October because an expert appointed by the prosecution and a DIGOS officer [political police] from Pisa in charge of the investigation were absent.

The comrades’ communiqués:

Silvia and Costa:
A high voltage pylon run by Terna [electricity company] on the La Spezia-Acciaiolo railway track was sabotaged in 2005 with two dynamite charges. The action seriously damaged the pylon but did not cause it to fall down.
In the days that followed an anonymous letter sent to press agencies and the Pisa editorial group of the radical eco paper Terra Selvaggia explained that the action had been carried out against renewed plans to reinstate nuclear power. These plans had never been really dismissed after the referendum following Chernobyl, but they continued to be pursued in numerous research centres, such as the Faculty of Nuclear Engineering of the University of Pisa, considered an institute of excellence on a national level. In the same area, at the S. Rossore natural park, another structure stands out: the CISAM, site of an experimental nuclear reactor and a military research centre. This plant recently caused controversy because of the dumping of radioactive water in the Navicelli canal linking the city of Pisa to the sea. Toxic water, which has been declared safe by the usual local servants of ARPAT [state agency dealing with environmental matters] and ASL [state health agency]. On the contrary this poisonous water reminds us that there’s no way out of nuclear power: what has been produced or left as waste is the legacy of a world where energy production and military control come before anything else, even if all they give is a landfill-like world. Solidarity to the fight of the Lumad people (Philippines)

Sunday, November 8th, 2015

We are currently supporting a campaign of the Lumad, an indigenous people who are victimized by atrocities of three institutions : the corporations, government military/para-military and left-wing insurgents (New People’s Army – NPA).

Our call is:
END LUMAD EXPLOITATION AND KILLINGS!
LET THE LUMAD SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES!
CORPORATIONS, STATE MILITARY AND LEFT-WING INSURGENTS – KEEP OUT OF LUMAD ANCESTRAL LANDS.
DON’T BE USED BY LEFT AND RIGHT WING PARTIES.
FIGHT FOR AUTONOMY!

The Lumad comprise the indigenous people living in Southern Mindanao. They have become refugees in different parts of the country as they flee from escalating violence, rape and harassment.

Asia Indigenous Peoples Pact (AIPP)
Public Statement

4 September 2015
– AIPP strongly condemns the continued brutal killings of Lumads in Mindanao of the Philippines at the hands of paramilitary groups and security forces. At least 13 Lumad human rights defenders and community members, including two children, have been killed in five incidents of extrajudicial killings and four massacres in the past eight months, with the recent killings of Emerito Samarca, Executive Director of a tribal school, and two other Lumad leaders in Surigao del Sur on 1 September. In the aftermath of the killings, more than 4000 Lumads evacuated to a neighboring village due to fear for their safety, and schools have been closed down. (more…)

Comrade killed by police defending the wetland of Testet (ZAD, France)

Tuesday, October 28th, 2014

From rabbleldn, reposted from squat.net and contrainfo:

According to a statement from squatters in the ZAD (occupied “zone to be defended”) of Notre-Dame-des-Landes, during the night between Saturday and Sunday the 26th of October 2014 a protester named Remi was killed in clashes that broke out after a rally against the construction of a dam along the Sivens forest in the wetland of Testet in the Tarn department (southern France).

Around 7000 people gathered in the ZAD (zone to be defended) of Testet, after months of police attacks and destruction of the wetland and habitations of those who defend the area. In the late evening and overnight, dozens of people attacked the forces of order that were protecting the dam construction site. Activists expressed their anger trying to delay the resumption of works, originally scheduled for Monday the 27th of October.

The cops fired rubber bullets (known as flash-balls), distraction devices such as stun hand grenades and fragmentation grenades, and tear gases. According to testimonies of protesters from the Testet wetland area, Remi must have collapsed after being hit with a grenade; then his body was reportedly taken by the repressive forces.

Prefectural authorities stated they did not want to comment on the matter before the official autopsy was made public on Monday. The government has already begun to stigmatize the protesters, in addition to trying to divide them in order to cover up what happened. But they know very well that, whatever they do, this death will have explosive consequences.

PDF: Setting Fires With Electrical Timers- An Earth Liberation Front Guide

Tuesday, September 30th, 2014

37 pages B&W: Setting Fires With Electrical Timers- An ELF Guide

From the introduction:

Electrical timers are superior to delays that use candles, incense or cigarettes. Electrical timers have significantly longer delay times. When electrical timers are carefully constructed, they are more reliable. Each one can be tested repeatedly until you are certain that it will work. Electrical timers are easily protected from wind and rain, whereas even a mild breeze can be a problem for candles and incense.

This guide has recipes for two electrical timers, the Old-Fashioned Kitchen Timer and the SCR Digital Timer. Both recipes have been greatly expanded to give extremely clear and detailed instructions. Our goal has been to eliminate ambiguity from the directions and to provide as many helpful tips as possible. You don’t need prior experience with electronics. You need only practice some with a soldering iron. As long as you pay attention to details and do the proper testing, you’ll be able to construct highly reliable timers.

The Old-Fashioned Kitchen Timer is relatively quick and easy to construct. The SCR Digital Timer takes much longer to build, especially the first few times, but it is worth the effort. At the target, it can be positioned and activated with unparalleled speed and safety. In addition, the SCR Digital Timer is extremely precise – down to the minute, and even down to the second, depending on the timepiece. With that level of precision, you can guarantee that multiple incendiary devices will ignite at the same time. Simultaneous ignition is especially important in situations where you expect firefighters to arrive quickly. If ignition is not simultaneous, the first fire may bring firefighters onto the scene before the other fires have a chance to do damage.

There are two other timer recipes that have been passed around. Both have serious drawbacks and should no longer be used. One recipe uses the hour hand on a wind-up wristwatch to push two wires together. It is terribly imprecise and most wristwatches are unable to perform the job. The other recipe uses an alarm clock that plugs into an electrical outlet. (It must be an alarm clock with a battery backup.) This type of alarm clock shuts off its display when unplugged, creating complications for the saboteur. Another problem is its reliance on a REED relay, which is not a solid state component and not as resilient as an SCR. The SCR Digital Timer is more foolproof and easier to use.

We hope you find many good uses for these timers. Enjoy.
