AUT has made impressive strides in developing its research capabilities, and is progressing rapidly towards its two key research goals: creating a vibrant learning community through research, and growing national and international research impact.

The research activities within each of AUT’s five faculties are overseen by an Associate Dean of Research who works closely with the Pro Vice-Chancellor Research, Innovation and Enterprise. We encourage you to explore the broad suite of research activities.

Research infrastructure

AUT has a comprehensive research infrastructure, with a centralised Research and Innovation Office and the commercialisation arm AUT Enterprises Limited, as well as research leadership within each faculty.

Research funding

Direct spending on research is approximately $23 million per year. This supports a range of research activity - from specific research projects to student scholarships, faculty research allocations and a Strategic Research Investment Fund.
