It’s as simple as Murdoching the ABC

With Labor adopting neoliberalism and implementing it in Australia from 1983 onwards, the nature of the media has moved more and more to the right in its reporting and commentary. The ABC has not been immune from this march to the right. Whereas News Limited is the voice of the fruitcake faction of capital, the ABC is the centre-right ‘sensible’ and ‘balanced’ voice of capital. Is there an alternative? I look forward to ABC workers taking over the corporation, getting rid of all the overpaid sooks and reporting working class news and views.

The Abbott government has taken the gloves off and will wage war on workers and unions. Why are our trade union leaders still playing by Marquis of Queensbury rules? Only a massive fight will force the class warmongers back into their trenches.
Don’t let Abbott destroy our trade unions. Rank and file workers need to organise demonstrations and strikes to defend our unions from this grave threat.

Adam, as an Aboriginal Australian and Australian of the Year, you are in a special position to challenge the systemic racism and genocide that is Australian capitalism. Make the most of it.

From invasion to resistance in Australia

Capitalism could not flourish without crushing the resistance of people who wanted to live differently, writes Tom O’Lincoln in Red Flag. That has been true in every corner of the globe. Private property, wage labour and the drive to accumulate capital were incompatible with Aboriginal society. That incompatibility was the basis of the genocide that followed.
