New York is a state in the Northeastern United States and is the United States' 27th-most extensive, fourth-most populous, and seventh-most densely populated state. New York is bordered by New Jersey and Pennsylvania to the south and Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Vermont to the east. The state has a maritime border in the Atlantic Ocean with Rhode Island, east of Long Island, as well as an international border with the Canadian provinces of Quebec to the north and Ontario to the west and north. The state of New York, with an estimated 19.8 million residents in 2015, is often referred to as New York State to distinguish it from New York City, the state's most populous city and its economic hub.
With an estimated population of nearly 8.5 million in 2014, New York City is the most populous city in the United States and the premier gateway for legal immigration to the United States. The New York City Metropolitan Area is one of the most populous urban agglomerations in the world. New York City is a global city, exerting a significant impact upon commerce, finance, media, art, fashion, research, technology, education, and entertainment, its fast pace defining the term New York minute. The home of the United Nations Headquarters, New York City is an important center for international diplomacy and has been described as the cultural and financial capital of the world, as well as the world's most economically powerful city. New York City makes up over 40% of the population of New York State. Two-thirds of the state's population lives in the New York City Metropolitan Area, and nearly 40% live on Long Island. Both the state and New York City were named for the 17th century Duke of York, future King James II of England. The next four most populous cities in the state are Buffalo, Rochester, Yonkers, and Syracuse, while the state capital is Albany.
Flushing is a village in the north-central part of the New York City borough of Queens, in the United States. While much of the village is residential, Downtown Flushing, centered on the northern end of Main Street, is a large commercial and retail area and is the fourth largest central business district in New York City.
Flushing's diversity is reflected by the numerous ethnic groups that reside there, including people of Asian, Hispanic, Middle Eastern, European, and African American ancestry. It is part of the Fifth Congressional District, which encompasses the entire northeastern shore of Queens County, and extends into neighboring Nassau County. Flushing is served by five railroad stations on the Long Island Rail Road Port Washington Branch, as well as the New York City Subway's IRT Flushing Line (7 <7> trains), which has its terminus at Main Street. The intersection of Main Street and Roosevelt Avenue is the third busiest intersection in New York City, behind Times and Herald Squares.
York City Football Club is a professional association football club based in the city of York, North Yorkshire, England. The team compete in League Two, the fourth tier of league football in England, as of the 2015–16 season.
First founded in 1908, the club played seven seasons in non-League football before folding in 1917. A new club was formed in 1922, and played in the Midland League for seven years before joining the Football League. They played in the third tier until 1959, when they were promoted for the first time. York achieved their best run in the FA Cup in 1954–55, when they met Newcastle United in the semi-final. They fluctuated between the Third and Fourth Divisions, before spending two seasons in the Second Division in the 1970s. York first played at Wembley Stadium in 1993, when they won the Third Division play-off final. At the end of 2003–04 they lost their Football League status after being relegated from the Third Division. The 2011–12 FA Trophy was the first national knockout competition won by York, and they returned into the Football League that season.
New York—often called New York City or the City of New York to distinguish it from the State of New York, of which it is a part—is the most populous city in the United States and the center of the New York metropolitan area, the premier gateway for legal immigration to the United States and one of the most populous urban agglomerations in the world. A global power city, New York exerts a significant impact upon commerce, finance, media, art, fashion, research, technology, education, and entertainment, its fast pace defining the term New York minute. Home to the headquarters of the United Nations, New York is an important center for international diplomacy and has been described as the cultural and financial capital of the world.
Situated on one of the world's largest natural harbors, New York City consists of five boroughs, each of which is a separate county of New York State. The five boroughs – Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, the Bronx, and Staten Island – were consolidated into a single city in 1898. With a census-estimated 2014 population of 8,491,079 distributed over a land area of just 305 square miles (790 km2), New York is the most densely populated major city in the United States. As many as 800 languages are spoken in New York, making it the most linguistically diverse city in the world. By 2014 census estimates, the New York City metropolitan region remains by a significant margin the most populous in the United States, as defined by both the Metropolitan Statistical Area (20.1 million residents) and the Combined Statistical Area (23.6 million residents). In 2013, the MSA produced a gross metropolitan product (GMP) of nearly US$1.39 trillion, while in 2012, the CSA generated a GMP of over US$1.55 trillion, both ranking first nationally by a wide margin and behind the GDP of only twelve and eleven countries, respectively.
Queens is the easternmost and largest in area of the five boroughs of New York City, geographically adjacent to the borough of Brooklyn at the western end of Long Island. Coterminous with Queens County since 1899, the borough of Queens is the second-largest in population (behind Brooklyn), with a census-estimated 2,321,580 residents in 2014, approximately 48% of them foreign-born. Queens County is also the second-most populous county in New York, behind the neighboring borough of Brooklyn, which is coterminous with Kings County. Queens is the fourth-most densely populated county among New York City's boroughs, as well as in the United States. If each New York City borough were an independent city, Queens would also be the nation's fourth most populous city, after Los Angeles, Chicago and Brooklyn. Queens is the most ethnically diverse urban area in the world.
The differing character in the neighborhoods of Queens is reflected by its diverse housing stock ranging from high-rise apartment buildings, especially prominent in the more densely urban areas of western and central Queens, such as Jackson Heights, Flushing, Astoria, and Long Island City, to large, free-standing single-family homes, common in the eastern part of the borough, in neighborhoods that have a more suburban layout like neighboring Nassau County, such as Little Neck, Douglaston, and Bayside.

It's my third v-log! I'm sorry it took me so long to make another vlog but between juggling three platforms and crunching NieR Automata content, it was very hard to find a day to dedicate to go out anywhere. About 10 steps in on your left, just say "Peking Duck Bun" and hold up a few fingers to tell them how many you want. 2. (1:07) Pork Bun, 4 for $2. This vendor is directly in front of the Happy Food building, on Main. Holding up 1 finger here will give you one order of 4. little known to tourists, Flushing is the other "Chinatown/Asiatown" in New York City besides the one in Manhattan. I recommend this one as it is more authentic and with less tourists. - The Flushing Chinatown is one of the largest and fastest growing ethnic Chinese enclaves outside of Asia, as well as within New York City itself. Main Street and the area to its west, particularly along Roosevelt Avenue, have become the primary nexus of Flushing Chinatown. However, Chinatown continues to expand southeastward along Kissena Boulevard and northward beyond Northern Boulevard. In the 1970s, a Chinese community established a foothold in the neighborhood of Flushing, whose demographic constituency had been predominantly non-Hispanic white and Japanese. Taiwanese began the surge of immigration, fo...

Ten miles east of New York City's "original" Chinatown in Downtown Manhattan lies one of the fastest-growing Asian-American neighborhoods in the country: Flushing, Queens. Mandarin-speaking Chinese immigrants dominate the scene here on the outskirts of this outer borough, so it's become a must-hit food mecca for less-touristy tastes of Chinese-American staples. Take dumplings. Flushing has some of the city's very finest examples, and together they form a crucial part of the culinary and social fabric of "Chinese Manhattan." But you can't talk about Flushing and dumplings without talking to the Queen of Dumplings herself: Helen You. So we caught up with her at Dumpling Galaxy (her second Flushing dumpling house, opened after the runaway success of her still-fantastic Tianjin Dumpling Hous...

Flushing is a neighborhood in the north-central part of the New York City borough of Queens, in the United States. While much of the neighborhood is residential, Downtown Flushing, centered on the northern end of Main Street, is a large commercial and retail area and is the fourth largest central business district in New York City. Group Protests Bank Practices By Joe Marvilli A Flushing community group has formed in protest of the practices at Flushing Savings Bank. The Queens Residents Against Flushing Savings Bank was born due to the case of Franklin Torres, a property owner who battled with the bank to save his six-family building in Corona. According to the protest group, Torres won his case against the bank in the Queens Supreme Court on Aug. 8, but the bank has refused to accept payments from Torres or work with him in any capacity. Instead, the bank is continuing to use legal maneuvers in an effort to take Torres' property. The issue has sparked much anger among the group, especially after the bank bailouts in 2008 and 2009. "We have formed this group to get the message out throughout the comm...

This is a very rare video of Flushing High School from 1938. It is from a VHS that was given to me by Lois Gordon Miller (AKA Mrs. Miller). I haven’t done any editing to the video; it was just transferred from VHS to a DVD. The quality of the video is OK. The content is wonderful. It is incredible to have this time and place in the history of Flushing High School captured and preserved for all to see.. There are great views of the campus, Memorial Field, Leavitt Field, Northern Boulevard and the interior of the school.

From the most Northern parts of Queens to Washington Heights, the FTD audience will get a well-curated tour of New York City's lesser-known after-dark eateries. We also get a chance to see Mr. Wonderful flex his culinary prowess while whipping up an ice cream sundae comprised of ingredients sourced solely from the Lower East Side.
