@LDSchurch I wish we would use our influence to DO more than pray for victims. Time to get off our knees and ask members and political leaders to create measures for real change.

With all do respect Carly, I think 75 thousand full time teenage missionaries encouraging a belief in Christ, family values, decency, and respect for all humanity as children of the same supreme being is a pretty good start.
-
@guddatj Missionaries and organizations outside of the lds church teach wonderful values. Unfortunately, these resources aren’t enough. Would be great to have@LDSchurch stop writing routine statements and instead push all members/political leaders to take action. -
I’m not sure where I stand on more govt involvement, but consider the following: “Policemen and laws can never replace customs, traditions and moral values as a means for regulating human behavior...
-
“... At best, the police and criminal justice system are the last desperate line of defense for a civilized society. Our increased reliance on laws to regulate behavior is a measure of how uncivilized we’ve become.”https://www.deseretnews.com/article/705300300/Laws-are-a-poor-substitute-for-common-decency-moral-values.html?via_email_share=1 …

Does more need to be done? Yes! Should their be a call to action? Yes! But we may quibble over who should do what and the timing of that call to action to stymie this terrible plague on our society.
-
It’s interesting that
@LDSchurch picks and chooses what issues they call action on (prop 8, DACA - a couple weeks ago). They know their influence as an institution and have shown to meddle in social/political issues before. -
And our leaders (social, political, religious) keep moving forward with the same formulaic responses. We need our institutions to use their influence for good, even if it means the majority of members will dislike it. A call for action is urgent and lives need to be saved now.

i'm not sure if you're fully aware of the depth of the deception, but the CES Letter is a good place to start. Google "CES Letter" and read all of the problems with this corporation errr cult errrr i mean religion
-
I'm fully aware; I'm an RM who goes to BYU, though this letter has nothing to do with deception.
-
Also not to be an apologist but CES Letter never really did it for me
-
fair enough. Just trying to share part of what helped me rip the shackles off. Have a great day

Praying God's blessings of comfort and peace for all of these sweet families. There were Mormons killed as well in this tragedy.

Please help with
#GunControlNow -
Gun control is not what we need more of.....we need kid control....bad parenting leads to this.
-
Okay, say you're right on this. Because I'm alright with that. Based on your unsolicited tweet: what would you like to see happen, in practical terms, in our society that would make a significant impact on reduced school killings?
