In epidemiology, an outbreak is a sudden increase in occurrences of a disease in a particular time and place. It may affect a small and localized group or impact upon thousands of people across an entire continent. Two linked cases of a rare infectious disease may be sufficient to constitute an outbreak. Outbreaks may also refer to epidemics, which affect a region in a country or a group of countries, or pandemics, which describe global disease outbreaks.
When investigating disease outbreaks, the epidemiology profession has developed a number of widely accepted steps. As described by the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, these include the following:
Zika virus /ˈziːkə, ˈzɪkə/ (ZIKV) is a member of the virus family Flaviviridae and the genus Flavivirus, transmitted by daytime-active Aedes mosquitoes, such as A. aegypti and A. albopictus. Its name comes from the Zika Forest of Uganda, where the virus was first isolated in 1947. Zika virus is related to dengue, yellow fever, Japanese encephalitis, and West Nile viruses.
The infection, known as Zika fever, often causes no or only mild symptoms, similar to a mild form of dengue fever. It is treated by rest. Since the 1950s, it has been known to occur within a narrow equatorial belt from Africa to Asia. In 2014, the virus spread eastward across the Pacific Ocean to French Polynesia, then to Easter Island and in 2015 to Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean, and South America, where the Zika outbreak has reached pandemic levels. The illness cannot yet be prevented by drugs or vaccines. As of February 2016, there is evidence that Zika fever in pregnant women can cause abnormal brain development in their fetuses by mother-to-child transmission, which may result in miscarriage or microcephaly. It is not yet known whether Zika virus causes microcephaly. A link has been established with neurologic conditions in infected adults, including Guillain–Barré syndrome.
Zika may refer to:

Dr. Tom Frieden, director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, addressed the Zika virus outbreak at a May 26, 2016 National Press Club speaker luncheon. Frieden, who has led the CDC since 2009, discussed the latest research and forecasts, as scientists at the CDC and other leading health-related organizations are working around the clock to better understand and address the virus tied to birth defects.

1. Brazil, which is currently experiencing the world’s largest outbreak of Zika, says the number of babies born with suspected microcephaly since October has reached nearly 4,000, compared to 150 in all of 2014 2. Scientists find cases of microcephaly and Guillain-Barre syndrome may be the most obvious cases linking the Zika virus to neurological disorders. 3. Health officials in the U.S. are worried about the possible spread of the mosquito-borne virus, which has been linked to abnormal brain development in children. 4. The virus is transmitted by the Aedes genus mosquito and has been linked in Brazil to microcephaly, a condition affecting infants that causes an abnormal smallness of the head associated with incomplete brain development. 5. Just when you thought a Zika outbreak couldn...

(Visit: http://www.uctv.tv/) After its first discovery in Africa in 1947, Zika seemed like a very localized infection. However, over the last couple of decades Zika has spread around the globe, and been found to cause serious developmental defects in fetuses. Zika can be transmitted by particular types of mosquitos, which are present in the San Diego region, and by sex. However, so far we haven’t seen transmission of Zika in our region. A panel discusses what Zika is, why we are so concerned about Zika, what we are doing to prevent Zika in humans, and whether Zika is a likely threat to people in the San Diego region. As the WHO investigates the massive outbreak of microcephaly in Brazil, we travel to ground zero of the epidemic. What is the true scale of the health crisis over the zika virus? Is Brazil, and the region, losing the battle against the virus? How far is the world from finding a cure? And will the Brazilian government help the mothers and their babies? Today on Talk to Al Jazeera, we travel to the centre of the crisis to find out how the children and parents are coping, whether they receive the help they have been promised, and we talk to a scientist about a possible way to stop the disease. - Subscribe to our channel: http://bit.ly/AJSubscribe - Follow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/AJEnglish - Find us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/aljazeera - Check our website: http://www...
The skate park is only 15 songs away
and there's nothing that I'd rather do on on this terrible fucking day.
Than break, break, break my fucking bones and feel the pain of self improvement.
It's not your job to make everybody happy.
You don't have to answer to anyone or anybody.
Just stick, stick, stick to your guns.
And don't quit it till you feel like changing them.
And the shame to keep yourself from knowing the things that make you beautiful and complete.
And we lie to ourselves and we can feel our insides rotting.
When the world could be bowing at our feet.
At our feet.
Stick, stick, stick to your guns.
And don't quit it till you feel like changing...
Stick, stick, stick to your guns.
And don't quit it till you feel like changing...
Stick, stick, stick to your guns.
And don't quit it till you feel like changing them.
Stick, stick, stick to your guns.
