"Effie" (full character name "Effie Stephanidis") is an outrageous comedic character played by Australian actress Mary Coustas. Coustas depicts a stereotypical second-generation Greek Australian.
The character originated in the comedy program Acropolis Now, which ran from 1989 to 1992. Since then, the character has appeared in Effie, Just Quietly (2001), and hosting the short-lived 2003 talk show Greeks On The Roof (based on the British series The Kumars at No. 42) in character with other actors playing her family. She has also appeared in a number of television commercials (most recently for AAPT).
Effie's catchphrases include "How embarrassment!" (see malapropism) in response to any potentially embarrassing situation. She greets people with "Hello, good thanks" before they have even asked her how she is feeling.
In 1992, Effie released a novelty single: a duet with another fictional character, Garry McDonald's Norman Gunston, recording their version of Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Amigos Para Siempre", the official song of the 1992 Summer Olympics (originally performed by Sarah Brightman and José Carreras). The single reached the Top 20 chart in Australia.
Fire Emblem Fates, known as Fire Emblem if (Japanese: ファイアーエムブレム if, Hepburn: Faiā Emuburemu Ifu) in Japan, is a tactical role-playing video game developed by Intelligent Systems and Nintendo SPD, and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo 3DS handheld video game console in June 2015 in Japan and 2016 in the West. It is the 14th main game (fifteenth overall) in the Fire Emblem series, and the second to be developed for Nintendo 3DS after Fire Emblem Awakening.Fates was released in three versions, each following a different storyline centered around the same characters: Birthright and Conquest as physical releases, and Revelation as downloadable content.
The overarching story follows the protagonist, a customizable Avatar created by the player, as they are unwillingly drawn into a war between the Kingdoms of Hoshido (their birthplace) and Nohr (their adopted home), and must choose which side to support. In Revelation, the Avatar rallies both sides against the true mastermind behind the war. The gameplay, which focuses around tactical movement of units across a grid-based battlefield, shares many mechanics with previous Fire Emblem games, although some elements are unique to each scenario.
Fire Emblem (ファイアーエムブレム, Faiā Emuburemu) is a tactical role-playing video game franchise developed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo. First produced and published for the Famicom, the series currently consists of fifteen games, including remakes, across multiple game systems. Described by its creators as an "RPG simulation", the gameplay revolves around tactical movement of characters across grid-based environments, while incorporating a story and characters similar to those in a more traditional role-playing video game. A noted aspect of gameplay is the permanent death of characters in battle, removing them from the rest of the game should they be defeated. The series title refers to a recurring object, often portrayed as a weapon or shield, representing the power of war and dragons, a recurring element in the series.
Development of the first game began as a dōjin project by Shouzou Kaga and three other developers. Its success prompted the development of further titles in the series. Kaga headed each one until the release of Thracia 776, when he left the company and founded his own game studio.
Euphemia Chalmers Millais, Lady Millais née Gray, known as Effie Gray, Effie Ruskin or Effie Millais (7 May 1828 – 23 December 1897) was the wife of the critic John Ruskin, but she left her husband without the marriage being consummated. She later married his protégé, the Pre-Raphaelite painter John Everett Millais. This famous Victorian "love triangle" has been dramatised in plays, films and an opera.
Effie Gray, initially known by the pet name of "Phemy", was born in Perth, Scotland, and lived in Bowerswell, the house where Ruskin's grandfather had committed suicide. Her family knew Ruskin's father, who encouraged a match between them. Ruskin wrote the fantasy novel The King of the Golden River for her in 1841, when she was twelve years old. After their marriage in 1848, they travelled to Venice, where Ruskin was researching his book The Stones of Venice.
Their different personalities are thrown into sharp relief by their contrasting priorities. For Effie, Venice provided an opportunity to socialise while Ruskin was engaged in solitary studies. In particular, he made a point of drawing the Ca' d'Oro and the Doge’s Palace, or Palazzo Ducale, because he feared they would soon be destroyed by the occupying Austrian troops. One of the troops, Lieutenant Charles Paulizza, made friends with Effie, apparently with no objection from Ruskin. Her brother, among others, later claimed that Ruskin was deliberately encouraging the friendship to compromise her, as an excuse to separate.

This is my favorite moment from the movie Dreamgirls for one very important reason. . . it's a live, real moment. She isn't lip-syncing to a pre-recorded track, as they do in the rest of the movie. And because it is live, it gives me the chills and makes me wanna stand up and clap. I wish they had made the whole film this way.

Im gonna lace my boots
Then il get to walking
Cos from what I've been through
You can't tell me nothing
Now your feeling loose
And thats how I felt
When i saw that other bitch
My heart began to melt
Broken wishes now you miss this
And I'm drowning in this water
I don't know what to tell ya
I don't know what to tell ya
Im gonna swim and try to make it
Cos of the way that i felt it
Now m drowning in this water
I don't know what to tell ya
Il sit in this room
While you start your talking
I will stay and listen
And leave when you're done explaining
Cos I'm feeling blue
All on what you've done
How could you give another
When I was your number one
Broken wishes now you miss this
And I'm drowning in this water
I don't know what to tell ya
I don't know what to tell ya
Im gonna swim and try to make it
Cos if the way that I felt it
Now I'm drowning in this water
I don't know what to tell ya
Yeahh
Know what to tell ya
Know what to tell ya
Uh uh uh uh
Thinking of you kissing her
Know she's had a part of me
Second chance was short
Wish id had the strength to leave
Tell me how you feel
Tell me how you feel
Tell me how you feel
Tell me how you feel
(Chorus repeat)
