The IV forum gave continuity to the discussions and commitments adopted during the III Global Forum of Companies for Gender Equality, which was co-organized by the UNDP and the Government of Panama in November 2016.
UNDP has been supporting partners in 17 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa, Asia, Eurasia to certify public and private companies for meeting gender equality targets
Empowering women and girls is key to achieving all 17 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.
In Latin America, women represent only 4.2% of CEOs among the 1,269 listed companies.
In keeping with its mandate to support the government’s effort to build back better, following the devastating effects of category 5 Hurricane Maria, the UNDP Dominica Project office capitalised on the large audience at the 2018 Carnival Monday parade as team members promoted Dominica’s building standards with an aptly themed float.
The initiative focuses on restoring lives with high standard roofing for homes and priority buildings, including government facilities.
