The amount of concealer I put under my eyes makes me wonder about the version of I could star in. Straighten up face! 🙄

I keep thinking about this Rumi quote used in “The wound is the place where the Light enters you.” I keep thinking about that word "wounded", and how it automatically implies hope for recovery.

For the FIRST time in my 37 years, I had the chance to see a Filipino light up the big screen thanks to Duvernay’s . Because of (and all the movies he’s bound to make), maybe my [future] kids will think seeing themselves in movies is normal. 😭

So we saw and I had expected that my niece would love it and my nephews would not be interested. However, my niece loved it and my nephews loved it even more than she did. Disintegrating patriarchy one soul at a time. :)

Another way of framing this would be, “Weekend Box Office: For the first time in Hollywood history the top two movies in America were directed by a Black Man () and a Black Woman ()”

I just left a sold out showing of . I laughed and cried (mostly cried) throughout the movie. this movie is BEAUTIFUL in so many ways. At 23, I left the movie feeling like I could be anything, but most importantly, declaring myself a WARRIOR! Thank you 💜✨

We always tell my daughter she’s beautiful and she responds exactly like Meg did in . Today she doesn’t feel that way. She literally took my glasses off my head during the movie because she wants to look like Meg. I cried because she actually does. Thank you !!

My 9-year-old niece saw this morning and, as soon as she got out, asked her mom for a Meg doll and a copy of the book.

I watched with the wonder of my younger self. Boundless curiosity and abandon—captured in this picture of its star . Reminded me of the way films used to completely transport me when I was a girl. GO. SEE. IT. Your younger self will thank you.

Fav moment of seeing was the little girl sitting next to me who gasped and said "whoa cool" when Meg and her father were experimenting in the lab in the opening scene. Thank you !
