Quezon City (/ˈkeɪzɒn/ KAY-zon;Filipino: Lungsod Quezon Tagalog pronunciation: [ˈkeːson]), also known to Filipinos by its initials as QC) is the most populous city in the Philippines. It is one of the cities that make up Metro Manila, the National Capital Region of the Philippines. Quezon City was named after Manuel L. Quezon, second President of the Philippines, who founded the city and developed it to replace the City of Manila as the national capital for 28 years from 1948 to 1976. Quezon City is not located in and should not be confused with Quezon Province, which was also named after the president. It is the largest city in Metro Manila in terms of land area and most populated local government unit in the country.
Having been the national capital for almost three decades, Quezon City is the site of many government offices, including the Batasang Pambansa Complex, which is the seat of the House of Representatives (the lower chamber of the Philippine Congress). Quezon City also holds the University of the Philippines Diliman, the national university, and Ateneo de Manila University.
Quezon (Tagalog pronunciation: [ˈkɛson]) is a province of the Philippines in the CALABARZON region of Luzon island. The province was named after Manuel L. Quezon, the second President of the Philippines, and its capital is Lucena City.
Quezon is southeast of Metro Manila and is bordered by the provinces of Aurora to the north, Bulacan, Rizal, Laguna and Batangas to the west and the provinces of Camarines Norte and Camarines Sur to the east. Part of Quezon lies on an isthmus connecting the Bicol Peninsula to the main part of Luzon. The province also includes the Polillo Islands in the Philippine Sea.
A major tourism draw to the province is Mount Banahaw. The mountain is surrounded by spiritual mysticism with many cults and religious organizations staying on the mountain. Numerous pilgrims visit the mountain especially during Holy Week.
Originally, what now forms Quezon was divided among the provinces of Batangas, Laguna, and Nueva Ecija. The first European to explore the area was Juan de Salcedo in 1571-1572, during his expedition from Laguna to Camarines provinces.
A city is a large and permanent human settlement. Although there is no agreement on how a city is distinguished from a town in general English language meanings, many cities have a particular administrative, legal, or historical status based on local law.
Cities generally have complex systems for sanitation, utilities, land usage, housing, and transportation. The concentration of development greatly facilitates interaction between people and businesses, benefiting both parties in the process, but it also presents challenges to managing urban growth.
A big city or metropolis usually has associated suburbs and exurbs. Such cities are usually associated with metropolitan areas and urban areas, creating numerous business commuters traveling to urban centers for employment. Once a city expands far enough to reach another city, this region can be deemed a conurbation or megalopolis. In terms of population, the largest city proper is Shanghai, while the fastest-growing is Dubai.
There is not enough evidence to assert what conditions gave rise to the first cities. Some theorists have speculated on what they consider suitable pre-conditions and basic mechanisms that might have been important driving forces.

The Philippines (i/ˈfɪlᵻpiːnz/; Filipino: Pilipinas [ˌpɪlɪˈpinɐs]), officially known as the Republic of the Philippines (Filipino: Republika ng Pilipinas), is a sovereign island country in Southeast Asia situated in the western Pacific Ocean. It consists of about 7,500 islands that are categorized broadly under three main geographical divisions: Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. The capital city of the Philippines is Manila and the most populous city is Quezon City; both are part of Metro Manila.
To the north of the Philippines across the Luzon Strait lies Taiwan; Vietnam sits west across the South China Sea; southwest lies Malaysia in the island of Borneo across the Sulu Sea, and to the south the Celebes Sea separates it from other islands of Indonesia; while to the east it is bounded by the Philippine Sea and the island-nation of Palau. Its location on the Pacific Ring of Fire and close to the equator makes the Philippines prone to earthquakes and typhoons, but also endows it with abundant natural resources and some of the world's greatest biodiversity. At approximately 300,000 square kilometers (115,831 sq mi), the Philippines is the 72nd-largest country in the world.
Metropolitan Manila (Filipino: Kalakhang Maynila, Kamaynilaan), commonly known as Metro Manila, the National Capital Region (NCR) of the Philippines, is the seat of government and the most populous region of the country which is composed of Manila, the capital city of the country, Quezon City, the country's most populous city, the Municipality of Pateros, and the cities of Caloocan, Las Piñas, Makati, Malabon, Mandaluyong, Marikina, Muntinlupa, Navotas, Parañaque, Pasay, Pasig, San Juan, Taguig, and Valenzuela.

Its total urban area, referring to its continuous urban expansion into the provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal and Batangas has a population of 7007241230000000000♠24,123,000, making it the 3rd most populous urban area in the world.
The region is the center of culture, economy, education, and government of the Philippines. NCR is one of the 12 defined metropolitan areas in the Philippines according to the National Economic and Development Authority. Designated as a global power city, NCR exerts a significant impact on commerce, finance, media, art, fashion, research, technology, education, and entertainment, both locally and internationally. It is the home to all the consulates and embassies in the Philippines, thereby making it an important center for international diplomacy in the country.

This is a typical Filipino neighborhood in Manila that is a bit unrecognized by foreigners. These type of areas are all over in the capital, where people from different parts of the Philippines come to live when they arrive in Manila.
Cubao-Araneta is one of the busy, built-up areas in Quezon City - the largest and most populous city in Metro Manila. I stayed here for 5 days in a building called Manhattan Parkway next to Gateway Mall, also near Farmer`s Market, Ali Mall, and SM Mall Cubao. Cubao is a strange area because it`s under heavy development and gentrification, so on one side of Aurora Blvd it`s rather upscale and luxurious, similar to being in Makati. On the other side of Aurora Blvd, it`s loud, noisy, dirty, chaotic, and rather third world. My building was quite nice, but the noise from Aurora Blvd was insane. It`s hard to explain how loud the traffic is at 5am - and I was on the 7th floor.

Check out our other videos here http://vid.io/xczD Inside the Philippines' Quezon City jail Eye-opening images reveal the daily life of 3,800 inmates serving time behind the crowded walls of a notorious Philippines prison built for just 800. Prisoners search for a corner of damp floor to squat against as they sleep, pick rusty nails and dead cockroaches out of their rations of food and suffer rashes and boils caused by the lack of ventilation and water. Inside Quezon City jail in Manila, the capital of the Philippines, there is a relentless and constant battle for space, water, food in an unhygienic facility. With 160 to 200 inmates crammed into a cell built for 20, men take turns to sleep on the cracked cement floor of an open-air basketball court, the steps of staircases, underneath b...

Eastwood City is a beautiful place at night, and a great place to spend time with friends, get dinner or a drink, and enjoy the luxurious ambiance. It`s in Quezon City and unfortunately is a little bit far from any other built up area, but it`s a nice place. The closest built-up area is probably Ortigas.

Vertis North is the latest and greatest development from Ayala Philippines. I'm a big fan of Ayala developments because they always include 'green' outdoor areas, plenty of food places, interesting shops and clean, well maintained bathrooms, For those wondering about the location, it's across Trinoma and near SM North EDSA. Aside from the mall there's also office and residential spaces but I don't have any details about that, I just saw some posters about it. If you look at Uptown in BGC, Circuit Makati and Vertis North you can clearly see that Ayala are focussed on creating mini cities where people can live, work and play without having to go out and battle the Manila traffic. They have 3 cinemas, two have regular screens but every seat is a lazy boy chair. The other one has the bigges...
(You may need to boost the volume, especially at the end when it starts raining hard - sorry)... This a video recording of the preaching I did in Bethanyland Bible Baptist Church in Quezon City, Philippines on Sunday 31st of August. The sermon was called “The Urgency of the Gospel” and was a modified version of the same sermon I preached in the UK about 4 weeks before. This was modified for a Filipino audience and included some Tagalog. Please be advised that this is only the fifth time I have ever preached anywhere in my life and, although it’s not easy to stand up and preach, it soon becomes second nature after just a few minutes. This church is run in the manner of an American Baptist service so there were a few things that differed. It was a joy to do that and take fellowship afterwar...
