Entheogenesis Australis (EGA) would like to officially thank the psychedelic community for your ongoing support, respect, and for being the most amazingly active audience our team could have hoped for.

Our very special conference gathering took place in Eildon from the 8-11 December 2017 - utilising a state of the art conference situated amongst the spectacular rolling hills and bushland of Eildon, Victoria.

EGA's 2017 Psychedelic Symposium explored the many aspects of psychedelic culture, research, and ethnobotany in academic, social and artistic terms. The symposium consisted of a mature, open discussion on psychedelics that included a large number of presenters, artists, and other contributors who all helped co-create this unique gathering. We’d like to thank everyone that helped make this event possible. EGA is truly run on dedicated psychedelic people power, and the conference itself was attended by 650 like minded souls.

EGA is a not-for-profit organisation, and its events are non-commercial ventures. The conference had approval from local council and seemed to be welcomed by the local community. In addition to ticket sales, the 2017 conference was funded approximately 20% by the psychedelic community. A fundraising campaign was run in 2016 that helped to both raise awareness of the event, as well as to cover the initial planning requirement costs.

In order to keep the ticket prices as low as possible, other forms of community fundraising were implemented, including the legendary EGA raffle (thanks to those who donated and purchased tickets). EGA also sought additional funds from elders and patrons in the community to help fully realise the event. So regardless of how you supported, participated or contributed, we extend our very deep gratitude for helping make the conference a reality.

We feel the knowledge and discussions shared at our 2017 gathering are important to share widely and freely, so a large proportion of the event was filmed and will in time be free to view via EGA’s YouTube channel - www.youtube.com/entheotv

In early 2018 the EGA journals and some other goodies will be available at www.entheogenesis.org, so stay tuned.

As EGA is a volunteer-run project, it's not an annual or even biennial event. Like a seed, it’s a little mystery when the next one will germinate, but you can join our mailing list at www.entheogenesis.org/newsletter for news and other upcoming events.

EGA feels it is deeply important to keep the dialogue going about the positive benefits that psychedelic and ethnobotanical plants can offer in therapeutic and other contexts. The positive stories about the potential of psychedelics need to be shared, and we urge you all to do that in 2018 and beyond.

For over a decade Entheogenesis Australis has provided a major meeting place for ethnobotanical enthusiasts and specialists in Australia to share information and form a natanal meeting point for the community. Past conference programs have drawn on covered diverse topics including therapy, biology, pharmacology, psychology, neuroscience, anthropology, botany, visionary art, culture, politics, law and more, to provide a realistic context of the role drugs and altered states play in the modern world.

Altered states of consciousness have long been a fundamental part of human culture, and as our world becomes increasingly fast-paced, alternative modalities are becoming ever more significant and consciously explored. About the Entheogenesis Australis team:

The Entheogenesis Australis (EGA) team is a collection of people from many different backgrounds, expertise, and experiences, who volunteer their time to produce this special Australian gathering. It is their hope that EGA will form a national sharing point for the ethnobotanical and psychedelic community, help stimulate research in the area of Psychedelic study’ , and stimulate policy reform in Australia around sacred plants and related psychoactive compound.

Entheogenesis Australis is completely funded by the community, and receives no funding from government grants or organisations.

All funds go directly to the symposium hard expenses, funding future projects, Australian psychedelic research projects, and education projects. The board members and directors of Entheogenesis Australis Inc. are not paid a salary for their efforts in organizing EGA events or the symposium. We hope you can join us on this special and important journey.
