Outreach and Fundraising Coordinator


Dollars & Sense is seeking a part-time (24 hours/week) Outreach and Fundraising Coordinator. The main duties of the position are fundraising appeals and events, magazine marketing, book marketing, and general organizational promotion. The Outreach and Fundraising Coordinator will work in collaboration with other staff members, and with the organization’s volunteer editorial collective and board.

About the organization: Dollars & Sense is a cooperatively run, nonprofit educational and social change organization with four paid staff members, a volunteer editorial collective, and a small board of directors. Our office is in the Back Bay/South End neighborhood of Boston. We publish Dollars & Sense, a bimonthly magazine of popular economics, the “Real World” series of economics textbooks, a website and two blogs. Our mission is to provide highly accessible reporting and analysis, from a variety of left perspectives, on U.S. and global economic issues with the aim of supporting economic justice.

Desired qualifications: Some college experience required. Experience in outreach, promotion, marketing, social media outreach, fundraising or development; database management; communications (mail and email); nonprofit organization leadership all highly desirable. Interest in social justice or social change issues (especially labor, inequality, poverty, environmental sustainability, globalization, etc.) and willingness to learn highly desirable. Ability to work collaboratively with others and to work independently are musts.

Compensation and benefits: Salary: approximately $25,000/year for 24 hours/week; prorated benefits package including health and dental benefits (or reimbursement for premium), paid holidays, four weeks’ paid vacation, paid sick/personal days; flexible work schedule.
