The Fenn Treasure is a treasure reportedly worth $1m–$3m hidden by art dealer and author Forrest Fenn in the Rocky Mountains. According to Fenn, many people have claimed to have found the treasure, but no one has provided any evidence to him supporting their claim. As of 2015, Fenn has stated that to his knowledge it is still not found.
Forrest Fenn operated an art gallery with his wife, Peggy, after retiring from the Air Force. The gallery was located in Santa Fe, New Mexico and sold everything from artifacts to fine art and was quite successful. In 1988, Fenn was diagnosed with cancer and came up with the idea during this illness to create a bronze chest full of treasure for anyone to go find. He filled the chest with "treasure" containing gold nuggets, rare coins, jewelry and gemstones, along with a jar holding his autobiography. He intended to hide it and end his life nearby, with the treasure as a legacy. However, he survived his illness and waited until he was 79 or 80 to hide the treasure. At least two people have been reported missing while searching for the treasure. One individual who was later found went missing in 2013. The most recent in January 2016 has still yet to be found.
Fenn typically appears as a surname. Occasionally it appears as a middle name, pen name or name of a fictional character.

Perfect Strangers is the eleventh studio album by Deep Purple, released in October 1984. It represents the first album recorded by the reformed (as well as the most successful and popular), 'Mark II' line-up.
It was the first Deep Purple studio album in nine years, and the first with the Mk II line-up for eleven years, the last being Who Do We Think We Are in 1973. Ritchie Blackmore and Roger Glover arrived from Rainbow, Ian Gillan from Black Sabbath, Jon Lord from Whitesnake, and Ian Paice from Gary Moore's backing band.
The CD and cassette versions of the album contained the extra track "Not Responsible" (one of few Deep Purple songs with profane lyrics, as the word "fucking" can be heard in the song). The album was remastered and reissued on 22 June 1999 with the bonus instrumental track "Son of Alerik". The latter had previously been available as a B-side on "Perfect Strangers" in 1984.
The tour was so successful that the band had to add many additional dates to the US arena tour, as tickets sold out very quickly. Their US tour in 1985 out-grossed every artist that year except Bruce Springsteen.
The Rocky Mountains, commonly known as the Rockies, are a major mountain range in western North America. The Rocky Mountains stretch more than 3,000 miles (4,800 km) from the northernmost part of British Columbia, in western Canada, to New Mexico, in the southwestern United States. Within the North American Cordillera, the Rockies are somewhat distinct from the Pacific Coast Ranges and the Cascade Range and Sierra Nevada which all lie further to the west.
The Rocky Mountains were initially formed from 80 million to 55 million years ago during the Laramide orogeny, in which a number of plates began to slide underneath the North American plate. The angle of subduction was shallow, resulting in a broad belt of mountains running down western North America. Since then, further tectonic activity and erosion by glaciers have sculpted the Rockies into dramatic peaks and valleys. At the end of the last ice age, humans started to inhabit the mountain range. After Europeans, such as Sir Alexander Mackenzie and Americans, such as the Lewis and Clark expedition, started to explore the range, minerals and furs drove the initial economic exploitation of the mountains, although the range itself never became densely populated.
Our family spent this year's vacation on the lookout for Forrest Fenn's treasure. I believe that I have found the spot that the treasure was once located.
The secret is hidden in a poem that starts like this: "Begin it where warm waters halt." Zack wrote an entire feature filled with maps, illustrated clues, and even more video. You can read and watch here: http://www.vox.com/a/fenn-treasure-hunt-map Sometime between 2009 and 2010 an 80 year old man by the name of Forrest Fenn trekked out into the Rocky Mountains and hid a bronze chest filled with over $2 million dollars worth of treasure. The secret to the location of the treasure is contained within a six stanza poem. Forrest Fenn's treasure, as it's come to be known, has captivated men, women, and children around the country and world and has lured many people to the Rocky Mountains in the hopes that they'll find the gold. Ash and I went treasure hunting in the Colorado Rockies to try and find Forrest Fenn's treasure. Obviously, we didn't find the treasure, but we still walked away richer than before. After finishing up our trip to Aspen, we followed a lead to the ghost town of St. Elmo, near Mt. Princeton. We thought we had found the "home of Brown", but the trail seemed to go cold at the blaze. ....Next time....
There are renewed calls to end a treasure hunt for $2 million in gold after a man from Colorado Springs went missing and is presumed dead. Over the past 18 months, at least two other men have died in remote areas while searching for a chest of gold that eccentric millionaire Forrest Fenn claims he buried in the Rocky Mountains. The latest victim, Eric Ashby, was reportedly hunting with four others in a gorge when he drowned. Authorities say Ashby went missing after his raft flipped.
Bringing you up to date on some of the recent Forrest Fenn related claims I've encountered.
