Overview
What We Do
UNDP in Armenia, as a strategic partner to the government and other stakeholders, assists their efforts to improve the quality of life and the well-being of Armenian people. Fighting poverty and unemployment, supporting decentralization and ensuring equal access to basic social and economic services, and education for vulnerable groups is in the center of UNDP activities in Armenia. We also support Armenia to have a more empowered civil society, accountable and responsive public institutions, as well as help Armenian people to manage the environment in a sustainable manner.
Our Goals
UNDP strives to promote people-centered sustainable development through realization of Millennium Development Goals by 2015, as well as takes active participation in development of post-2015 development agenda.
To improve agricultural effectiveness, UNDP distributed high quality wheat seeds to 5 communities in the Tavush, Shirak and Syunik regions.

Elimination of Obsolete Pesticide Stockpiles and Addressing POPs Contaminated Sites
Armenia still suffers from the legacy of a centralized command economy. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, an Union-wide program was initiated to collect the accumulated banned and expired pesticides from the distribution system and dispose them in landfills or burial sites. In 1990, it was estimated that 600 storehouses existed in Armenia.more
