12 Corazones

12 Corazones (Spanish pronunciation: [ˈdose koɾaˈsones], 12 Hearts) is a Spanish-language dating game show produced in the United States for the television network Telemundo since January 2005, based on its namesake Argentine TV show format The show is filmed in Los Angeles and revolves around the twelve Zodiac signs that identify each contestant. The show is hosted by Penelope Menchaca and features advice from co-host Maximiliano Palacio, an Argentine former polo player turned actor, and Edward'O, an astrologist; Palacio and Edward'O often appear alternately in some episodes and simultaneously in others.

In August 2009, Telemundo added English subtitles as closed captions on CC3, airing on mun2 in that format.

Show format

The show consists of 12 contestants divided into two groups (usually four males and eight females, but sometimes vice versa). Each of the contestants is identified and referred to by his/her Zodiac sign. In between segments, Maximiliano Palacio offers love and relationship advice to the contestants.

Corazones

Corazones (English: Hearts) is the fourth album by the Chilean new-wave band Los Prisioneros. First released in 1990, it was produced by Gustavo Santaolalla (with Anibal Kerpel's collaboration) for EMI Odeon Chilena. The album was recorded, mixed and mastered in Los Angeles, California.

The lyrics are not related to the band's usual social criticism, but they took a more romantic, electronic oriented direction, with the support of Cecilia Aguayo on keyboards and Robert Rodríguez on guitars. Also, this was the first record without Claudio Narea (a member of the original line-up) on guitar.

After finishing the promotion tour -which included two performances on the International Music Festival at Viña del Mar (1991)- The band split up and would eventually reunite for a brief period in 2001.

In the US, Corazones was released by Capitol Records.

According to Rolling Stone Chile magazine, "Corazones" stands #9 on the best chilean album of all times ranking, while "La voz de los 80" stands #3, and "Pateando piedras", #15.

Daddy Yankee

Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez (born February 3, 1976), known by his stage name Daddy Yankee, is a Puerto Rican reggaeton singer, songwriter, producer and actor. Ayala was born in Río Piedras, San Juan, Puerto Rico, and was raised in the neighborhood of Villa Kennedy Housing Projects.

Ayala aspired to be a professional baseball player, and tried out for the Seattle Mariners Major League baseball team. Before he could be officially signed, he was hit by a stray round from an AK-47 rifle while taking a break from a studio recording session with reggaeton mix tape icon DJ Playero. Ayala spent roughly one and a half years recovering from the wound; the bullet was never removed from his hip, and he credits the shooting incident with allowing him to focus entirely on a music career. Since then, he has sold over 18 million albums.

Musical career

1992–2003: Early music career

Daddy Yankee first appeared on the 1992 DJ Playero's Mixtape, Playero 34, with the song "So' Persigueme, No Te Detengas". Ayala was originally going to become a professional baseball player but he was shot in his leg while taking a break from a studio recording session. The bullet was never removed and he credits this incident with allowing him to pursue a musical career. He made a few songs talking about the shooting incident, but his most "complete" song about it was "6 De Enero", released in 2012. His first official studio project as a solo artist was No Mercy, which was released on April 2, 1995 through White Lion Records and BM Records in Puerto Rico. Early in his career he attempted to imitate the style of Vico C. He went on to emulate other artists in the genre, including DJ Playero, DJ Nelson, and DJ Drako, taking elements from their styles in order to develop an original style. In doing so, he eventually abandoned the traditional model of rap and became one of the first artists to perform reggaeton.

Penélope Menchaca

Penélope Menchaca (born September 6, 1968) is a Los Angeles based Mexican television host, singer, and actress.

Biography

Menchaca was born in Mexico City, Mexico. She is the daughter of Dolores Menchaca, director of The National Mexican Ballet Folklorica. Menchaca attended University La Salle in Mexico City where she majored in law.

At the age of 15, she joined the National Ballet of Mexico and traveled the world as a feature ballerina. She joined the singing group "Las Nenas" at the age of 19, and was their lead vocalist for nearly 15 years.

When she was 19 years old, Menchaca married her now ex-husband, and were together for 11 years until divorcing, they have two daughters together.

Career

In 1999, Las Nenas were traveling the United States where she got the attention of KRCA Channel 62 (Los Angeles TV) who was launching an afternoon show and wanted Menchaca as the host. After a lot of convincing by Channel 62 she gave up the singing group and moved with her two daughters to live in Los Angeles and host the show Los Angeles en Vivo. During the five years that she was host to the unscripted and live show she interviewed personalities such as Chayanne, David Copperfield, John Leguizamo, Lupillo and Jenni Rivera. Singer Adán Sánchez's first TV appearance was on her show and a regular guest.
