Marina Sirtis (/ˈsɜːrtɪs/; born 29 March 1955) is an English-American actress. She is best known for her role as Counselor Deanna Troi on the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation and the four feature films that followed, as well as other appearances in the Star Trek franchise.
Marina Sirtis was born in the East End of London, the daughter of working-class Greek parents Despina, a tailor's assistant, and John Sirtis. She was brought up in Harringay, North London and immigrated to the U.S. in the late 1980s, later becoming a naturalized U.S. citizen. She auditioned for drama school against her parents' wishes, ultimately being accepted to the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
Sirtis started her career as a member of the repertory company at the Connaught Theatre, Worthing, West Sussex, in 1976. Directed by Nic Young, she appeared in Joe Orton's What the Butler Saw and as Ophelia in Hamlet.
Before her role in Star Trek, Sirtis was featured in supporting roles in several films. In the 1983 Faye Dunaway film The Wicked Lady, she engaged in a whip fight with Dunaway. In the Charles Bronson sequel Death Wish 3, Sirtis's character is a rape victim. In the film Blind Date, she appears as a prostitute who is murdered by a madman.

An interview with Marina Sirtis (Counselor Deanna Troi from Star Trek: The Next Generation) on a local news station in Los Angeles. NOTE: This is my 2nd attempt to upload. YouTube keeps cutting off my videos at 4:43, so I am trying different encoding formats. The clip at the beginning is from 7th season's "Dark Page". The interview itself was aired on November 8, 1993, and took place during the filming of "Homeward" from later in the 7th season. This is, in my opinion, the most beautiful and radiant I have seen Marina looking in ANY interview. This was originally on a VHS tape recorded at the 6-hour speed, so the quality isn't THAT great, but it's OK. I loved Patrick Stewart's screw-up of the guest character's name. :) The interview was done by a no-longer-existing stat...

This is something I found on the internet by accident while searching for something else related to Nemesis. This clip features short interviews with director Stuart Baird, and actors Brent Spiner (Data) and Marina Sirtis (Troi). For those of you who want to go straight to a particular person's section, Brent starts at 2:07, and Marina starts at 2:55. I believe this was a British interviewer; hence Marina sounding more British than usual. :)
Born to Greek parents in the UK, actress Marina Sirtis is best known for her role as the definitive brunette bombshell, Counselor Deanna Troi, in seven seasons and four movies of Star Trek: The Next Generation.
