Kufri is beauty of Shimla.
This region remained obscure from the rest of the world until the British 'discovered' it in 1819.The region around Shimla including Kufri was once a part of the Kingdom of Nepal until the area was ceded to the British Raj as part of the Sugauli Treaty. Kufri is a small hill station in Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh state in India. It is located 13 km from the state capital Shimla on the National Highway No.22.
The name Kufri is derived from the word kufr meaning "lake" in the local language.
The highest point in the surrounding region, Kufri has a Himalayan wild life zoo which hosts rare antelopes, felines and birds including the Himalayan monal, the state bird of Himachal Pradesh. During winter a meandering path through the potato plantations turns into a popular ski track.
Kufri Fun World, an amusement park to enjoy the whole day. This park is an excellent destination for family to make a memorable day, is equipped with various rides, pools and world's highest go-kart track. Huge number of children, teenagers and adults visit this place.

Even after independence the city remained an important political center hosting the Simla Agreement of 1972. Himachal Pradesh ([ɦɪmaːtʃəl prəd̪eːʃ]; literally "Snow-laden Region") is a state in North India, forming part of the larger Punjab region. Its area is 21,495 sq mi (55,670 km2), and is bordered by Jammu and Kashmir on the north, Punjab on the west, Haryana on the south-west, Uttarakhand on the south-east and by the Tibet Autonomous Region on the east.
Himachal Pradesh is famous for its abundant natural beauty. After the war between Nepal and Britain, also known as the Anglo-Gorkha War (1814–1816), the British colonial government came into power and the land now comprising Himachal Pradesh became part of the Punjab Province of British India. In 1950, Himachal was declared a union territory, but after the State of Himachal Pradesh Act 1971, Himachal emerged as the 18th state of the Republic of India. Hima means snow in Sanskrit, and the literal meaning of the state's name is "In the lap of Himalayas". It was named by Acharya Diwakar Datt Sharma, one of the great Sanskrit scholars of Himachal Pradesh.

Kufri is a small hill station in Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh state in India. It is located 13 km from the state capital Shimla on the National Highway No.22.
The name Kufri is derived from the word kufr meaning "lake" in the local language.
The highest point in the surrounding region, Kufri has a Himalayan wild life zoo which hosts rare antelopes, felines and birds including the Himalayan monal, the state bird of Himachal Pradesh. During winter a meandering path through the potato plantations turns into a popular ski track.
Kufri Fun World, an amusement park to enjoy the whole day. This park is an excellent destination for family to make a memorable day, is equipped with various rides, pools and world's highest go-kart track. Huge number of children, teenagers and adults visit this place.

Mall Road is the one stretch, that truly celebrates the spirit of Shimla, its tourist rush and valleys and hills covered with houses and hotels. This place has a lot of shops which sell local handicrafts, shawls, woolens, exquisite jewelry etc. It also has very interesting cafes and restaurants which serve great food. At the same time, the Mall is the hub of activities and enjoyment and a significance beyond that of a mere shopping are. Vehicles are not allowed on this road to facilitate easier movement of pedestals and a cleaner environment.
Jakhoo Temple
This temple has the world's largest Hanuman statue, which is visible from most parts of Shimla. Visit the temple, to view this statue upright and strain your neck a bit admiring its magnificence.One can also get a panoramic view of the Shivalik ranges and the town of Sanjauli from the temple. According to the legend that surrounds this temple, Lord Hanuman stopped at this spot to take some rest before resuming his search for the Sanjeevani Booti to revive Lord Lakshman.
Christ Church
Located at the Mall Road itself, this church is the second oldest church in North India. The interiors and the neo-gothic architecture are very beautiful and appealing making this church one of the most important attractions in Shimla.The church becomes a part of a holiday-like scenery during winters with the snowfall.
Kufri
While in Shimla, visit its colder, higher and less crowded cousin, Kufri just 13 km away from the main town. The views and sceneries here only get better, and the landscapes more flattering, a bit untouched with the tourist rush.
However, Kufri too is becoming increasingly popular with the visitors, especially due to the zoo here. One must visit Kufri's zoological park which is famous for having rare species of Antelopes, Felines, Bears and birds including Himalayan Monal, which is the state bird of Himachal Pradesh.
Mashru peak is the highest point here and one can reach by trekking upto that point. Otherwise, Kufri itself is very cold and is used as a ski ground during winters. There are accommodation options also available here. Wildflower Hall is also located nearby.

The Green valley is a beautiful mountain range, falling on the way to Kufri from Shimla. The valley is God's gift to the beautiful city of Shimla. The greenery and beauty of the place are mesmerising and makes you forget everything else.
The Green valley near Kufri is a beautiful valley region, tourist love to stop or drive by. The scenic beauty makes it one the most beautiful must see valley region oIndiaia. Tourists come here to spend some time standing by the road enjoying the view. Though there is no place for visitors to stay there, people do take a minute to soak in the environment and click a picture with family and friends. The Kalka-Shimla Railway is a Wolrd Heritage Site by UNESCO since 2008.

So here is the story of Day 2 of our winter ride to Spiti.What an amazing day it was with lot's of photography and fun en route to Reckong Peo.Till wangtu road was pretty much in good shape but post that road vanished and we got the opportunity to revv our bikes on some difficult offroad patches.Roayal enfield Himalayan was going crazy on offroad patches and Pulserstarada was having fun too.

At a height of 2,290 metres (7,513 ft), Reckong Peo is 260 kilometres (162 miles) from Shimla and seven kilometres (4⅓ miles) from Powari. Earlier Kalpa was the headquarters later changed to Reckong Peo, named after group of people who used to own this place in ancient times.
