Life is a British nature documentary series created and produced by the BBC in association with The Open University, it was first broadcast as part of the BBC's Darwin Season on BBC One and BBC HD from October to December 2009. The series takes a global view of the specialised strategies and extreme behaviour that living things have developed in order to survive; what Charles Darwin termed "the struggle for existence". Four years in the making, the series was shot entirely in high definition.
Life premiered on 12 October 2009 in the United Kingdom consisting of ten 50-minute episodes. The opening programme gives a general introduction to the series, a second look at plants, and the remainder are dedicated to some of the major animal groups. They aim to show common features that have contributed to the success of each group, and to document intimate and dramatic moments in the lives of selected species chosen for their charisma or their extraordinary behaviour. A ten-minute making-of feature Life on Location aired at the end of each episode, taking the total running time to 60 minutes.
Sir David Frederick Attenborough /ˈætənbʌrə/ OM CH CVO CBE FRS FLS FZS FSA Kt (born 8 May 1926) is an English broadcaster and naturalist.
He is best known for writing and presenting the nine Life series, in conjunction with the BBC Natural History Unit, which collectively form a comprehensive survey of animal and plant life on the planet. He is also a former senior manager at the BBC, having served as controller of BBC Two and director of programming for BBC Television in the 1960s and 1970s. He is the only person to have won BAFTAs for programmes in each of black and white, colour, HD, and 3D.
Attenborough is widely considered a national treasure in Britain, although he himself does not like the term. In 2002 he was named among the 100 Greatest Britons following a UK-wide vote. He is the younger brother of director, producer and actor Richard Attenborough.
Attenborough was born in Isleworth, West London, but grew up in College House on the campus of the University College, Leicester, where his father, Frederick, was principal. He is the middle of three sons (his elder brother, Richard, became an actor and director and his younger brother, John, an executive at Italian car manufacturer Alfa Romeo). During World War II, through a British charitable programme known as Kindertransport, his parents also fostered two Jewish refugee girls from Europe.

From the BAFTA Archive. Attenborough’s career as a naturalist and broadcaster has spawned many ground-breaking series - from the groundbreaking Life on Earth (1979) to Frozen Planet (2011). Together they comprise the most ambitious and comprehensive survey of terrestrial life ever undertaken. As a former Controller of BBC2, Attenborough's commissioning output ranged from The Ascent of Man to The Old Grey Whistle Test. Yet his lasting legacy is his peerless contribution to our understanding of the natural world, first in terms of ecology, taxonomy and habitat, and increasingly in the light of man's environmental impact on the planet. subscribe to Guru ⏩ https://youtube.com/user/BAFTAGuru ⏬ stay up to date ⏬ Twitter: @BAFTAGuru: https://twitter.com/BAFTAGuru @BAFTA: https://twitter.c...

David Attenborough shows us how some animals have evolved new hunting, mating and parental techniques to help them survive the challenges of life.
Life, this is an outrageous life,
We're living in.
We call this turmoil our life,
Oh, and it's gettin' old coming over again.
But we don't hear nobody,
Say what they're after.
And we don't hear nobody,
Searching for answers.
John Kennedy died,
They thought he had a solution.
We want to know,
What happened to the revolution.
Did we all get hung up in life.
And do we all know,
Just where were going.
Everything's wrong,
So a change has got to be right (man, baby).
Life, for all the rest of our life,
Will we be wrapped up in strife.
Or, are we gonna start it all over again.
We want to have somebody,
Come up with the answers.
We want to be somebody,
That know's what their after.
We hope that everybody,
Can hear what I'm sayin'.
We know that we will,
If we just keep on prayin'.
CHORUS
Learning to share what were standing on.
Learning to care 'cus it's been so long.
No one so big that they have it all.
We've got to give to the very small.
Life, Give me the rest of my life,
I want to finish it right.
So, I don't have to start all over again.
Let's get together,
For some satisfaction.
Let's stand together,
On a chain reaction.
We need somebody,
We could really depend on.
Don't wait till tomorrow,
'Cause it just might be too long.
