The 42nd release on microCastle welcomes Chicola and Sahar Z to the label for their debut EP. The Israeli duo have long been at the core of Tel Aviv's electronic music scene. Sahar Z is now approaching 20 years as one of the country's most recognized artists. Part owner and resident at Tel Aviv's famed 'The Cat & Dog' club, Sahar continually plays alongside some of the world's best talent such as Sasha, John Digweed, Dubfire, Mathew Jonson and Patrice Baumel. While his productions for Bedrock, Lost & Found, Suara and Sudbeat continue to make him one of the most unique and cutting edge artists in the underground.
Similarly Chicola began his journey into electronic music in the mid-nineties, at Tel Aviv's renowned 'Allenby 58, DJing alongside Laurent Garnier, Carl Craig, Danny Tenaglia and countless other top international talents. Recent studio work for Lost & Found, Sudbeat Music and Guy Mantzur's Plattenbank Records, along with one hugely in demand and unreleased piece 'Childhood', has propelled Chicola into one of electronic music's most intriguing artists.
The studio synergy between Chicola and Sahar is constant and while an abundance of material is locked away (primarily for live gigs), it's only on rare occasions that you see a collaborative release from the duo. Previous EP's for Guy J's Lost & Found Records and Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music are all that sits in the duos collective discography. Now as 2016 begins we see a long awaited third project, their debut EP for microCastle entitled 'It Happened One Night'.
Like much of the music coming from the core of Tel Aviv's electronic culture, the lead track here 'It Is What It Is' has been the subject of much mystery. After appearing in the sets of Hernan Cattaneo and Guy Mantzur all throughout the Fall season it's been one of the most talked about, and sought after tracks in the underground. It's tough grooves and techno minded sensibilities are geared directly towards a large room or festival environment. Perhaps not a typical production for Chicola and Sahar, who are generally thought of as purveyors of deeper more emotional music, but here the duo have created the ultimate peak time record, culminating in a rush of delayed snares for an all out sensory assault and ultimate dance floor moment. In the words of Chicola and Sahar "Techno snares meets Moog. We made this groove and the original version was 18 minutes long, then we started to play around with the snares, and a cafe break brought the idea of those endless delays of snares. The arp on top is pure Moog with all its love. A simple, clean record and a dance floor killer."
The EP's second selection 'The Stage' finds Chicola and Sahar crafting the ultimate techno jam. It's a journey that plays out over fourteen glorious minutes, anchored by a smooth, momentous groove, it effortlessly flows through a myriad of subtle motifs and cosmic effects. A continually evolving adventure with a techno state of mind, as described by Chicola and Sahar, "This one was a winter session that resulted in a soulful moment. A time when we turned off our minds and opened up our hearts. An analog moment for us, circular sounds with warm melodies. It's our 909 meets 303 approach and an endless jam session for the future."
The EP concludes with its title and most emotive piece 'It Happened One Night'. Written nearly two years ago this one has an old soul and it's timeless appeal is undeniable. Powerful beat layering, metallic melodies and a cavernous break make for many magic moments but it's a heavenly third act which ultimately seals the track's true brilliance. In the words of Chicola and Sahar, "One hot summer night we sat down and started to do our thing with Mr Prophet 12. We took this chord and gave it our treatment, it's a track full of madness, solid grooves & hypnotic soundscapes. There's something very sweet in this sound but locked away underneath it all there's something very dark & nasty as well. A unique track and perfect to bring the EP all together."

An illustrious career stretching over two decades has seen Chico Shuella become one of Israel’s most respected and sought after DJs and producers. Chicola’s international DJ appearances alongside domestic residencies at “Haomann 17” and his sets played on Laurent Garnier’s radio show have been coupled with a production career that has seen successful releases on US imprints, Tommy Boy and KTA in the early, post-millennium years, and more recently Lost and Found, Plattenbank and of course here on Sudbeat.
Kicking things off, with the title track from the EP we have 'Nux Vomica', a brooding peak time winner that means business from the off. Its big bass powers along as trippy fx pave the way before the teasing drop that holds you as big synths land with long reverbs creating tension. This is solid and packs a real punch, be warned!
String forward next with 'Her Song', and its another gem to keep the energy levels at maximum. A solid groove lays the foundation, while reverbs and delays on the big synth stabs before tinkling arpeggiator adds a mystical layer, creating a magical soundscape while trippy fx add depth before culminating in a reverby chasm that leads to the big drop. A big of a monster to say the least...
Rounding off the EP we have 'Jeedo'. A melodic voyage that oozes class, with its skippy groove and cool percussion lines, this warm gem its the most restrained of the package, yet still has a serious dance floor demeanour. One for getting your crowd lost in their own musical minds...

Chicola
Chicola was a small port on the north coast of the Fallas, Cuba. It was built in 1932 by the Fallas-Gutierrez sugar company to ship to the USA the sugar produced by the factories of Central Patria and Central Adelaida. It is located on a bay in front of Cayo Coco island, near the Laguna de Leche, at circa 30 km in north-west of Morón, Ciego de Ávila Province.
Overview
The name came from the Spanish word (chico) which means "small" or "tight". The only access to Chicola was through 9 kilometers of railroad that ran on a heavily forested and swampy terrain. The sugar was carried in railroad wagons and then loaded on to flat-bottom boats to be taken over 25 miles of shallow sea (6 feet) to deep ocean, (Cayo Guillermo), where it was transferred to big liners. It operated until 1968. In 1962 the Cuban coast guard installed a station with a 100 feet high watchtower, which was closed in 1975. Today it is an abandoned locality visited only by fishermen. The railways were salvaged for materials for cattle fence construction.

Lost and found
A lost and found (American English and Canadian English), lost property (British English), or lost articles (also Canadian English) is an office in a public building or area where people can go to retrieve lost articles that may have been found by others. Frequently found at museums, amusement parks and schools, a lost and found will typically be a clearly marked box or room in a location near the main entrance. This is in contrast to Old Dominion University's centralization of lost and found management through the use of technology to better manage the return-to-owner process.
Some lost and found offices will try to contact the owners of any lost items if there are any personal identifiers available. Practically all will either sell, give or throw away items after a certain period has passed to clear their storage.
History
First advertising of this kind appears on papyruses in Ancient Greece and Rome. In Japan, the lost-and-found property system dates to a code written in the year 718. The first modern lost and found office was organized in Paris in 1805. Napoleon ordered his prefect of police to establish it as a central place "to collect all objects found in the streets of Paris", according to Jean-Michel Ingrandt, who was appointed the office's director in 2001. However, it was not until 1893 that Louis Lépine, then prefect of police, organized efforts to actively track down the owners of lost items.

Tel Aviv and Jaffa were merged into a single municipality in 1950, two years after the establishment of the State of Israel. Tel Aviv's White City, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2003, comprises the world's largest concentration of Bauhaus buildings.

The Israeli duo have long been at the core of Tel Aviv's electronic music scene. Sahar Z is now approaching 20 years as one of the country's most recognized artists. Part owner and resident at Tel Aviv's famed 'The Cat & Dog' club, Sahar continually plays alongside some of the world's best talent such as Sasha, John Digweed, Dubfire, Mathew Jonson and Patrice Baumel. While his productions for Bedrock, Lost & Found, Suara and Sudbeat continue to make him one of the most unique and cutting edge artists in the underground. Similarly Chicola began his journey into electronic music in the mid-nineties, at Tel Aviv's renowned 'Allenby 58, DJing alongside Laurent Garnier, Carl Craig, Danny Tenaglia and countless other top international talents. Recent studio work for Lost & Found, Sudbeat Music and Guy Mantzur's Plattenbank Records, along with one hugely in demand and unreleased piece 'Childhood', has propelled Chicola into one of electronic music's most intriguing artists. The studio synergy between Chicola and Sahar is constant and while an abundance of material is locked away (primarily for live gigs), it's only on rare occasions that you see a collaborative release from the duo. Previous EP's for Guy J's Lost & Found Records and Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music are all that sits in the duos collective discography. Now as 2016 begins we see a long awaited third project, their debut EP for microCastle entitled 'It Happened One Night'. Like much of the music coming from the core of Tel Aviv's electronic culture, the lead track here 'It Is What It Is' has been the subject of much mystery. After appearing in the sets of Hernan Cattaneo and Guy Mantzur all throughout the Fall season it's been one of the most talked about, and sought after tracks in the underground. It's tough grooves and techno minded sensibilities are geared directly towards a large room or festival environment. Perhaps not a typical production for Chicola and Sahar, who are generally thought of as purveyors of deeper more emotional music, but here the duo have created the ultimate peak time record, culminating in a rush of delayed snares for an all out sensory assault and ultimate dance floor moment. In the words of Chicola and Sahar "Techno snares meets Moog. We made this groove and the original version was 18 minutes long, then we started to play around with the snares, and a cafe break brought the idea of those endless delays of snares. The arp on top is pure Moog with all its love. A simple, clean record and a dance floor killer." The EP's second selection 'The Stage' finds Chicola and Sahar crafting the ultimate techno jam. It's a journey that plays out over fourteen glorious minutes, anchored by a smooth, momentous groove, it effortlessly flows through a myriad of subtle motifs and cosmic effects. A continually evolving adventure with a techno state of mind, as described by Chicola and Sahar, "This one was a winter session that resulted in a soulful moment. A time when we turned off our minds and opened up our hearts. An analog moment for us, circular sounds with warm melodies. It's our 909 meets 303 approach and an endless jam session for the future." The EP concludes with its title and most emotive piece 'It Happened One Night'. Written nearly two years ago this one has an old soul and it's timeless appeal is undeniable. Powerful beat layering, metallic melodies and a cavernous break make for many magic moments but it's a heavenly third act which ultimately seals the track's true brilliance. In the words of Chicola and Sahar, "One hot summer night we sat down and started to do our thing with Mr Prophet 12. We took this chord and gave it our treatment, it's a track full of madness, solid grooves & hypnotic soundscapes. There's something very sweet in this sound but locked away underneath it all there's something very dark & nasty as well. A unique track and perfect to bring the EP all together." -

Tenampa is back with a massive release by one of the most respected producers from Israel: Chicola.
Responsible for transforming the underground House scene in his homeland, Chicola is now making giant strides on a global scale.
He has previously released music on: Sudbeat, Lost & Found, Suruba Records and microCastle.
Now we welcome him to Tenampa with his amazing: Drosea EP. A modern production, full of stabs and occasional atmospheric warm chords with brass layers of synths and pads that drive you into Chicolas wonderfully deep world... which is the whole foundation of his music.
On remix duties is one of the UKs most exciting young artists: Samu.l
Who has previously released on labels such as: Saved, 8Bit, Moan, Selador, Inmotion, and 1trax - for which he mixed his debut compilation FIVE (following Matt Tolfrey, Subb-an, Huxley and Hector in the series).
Samu.l highlights the groove and percussions of the original version, but also puts his raw signature horns touch, creating a damn fine remix!

The 42nd release on microCastle welcomes Chicola and Sahar Z to the label for their debut EP. The Israeli duo have long been at the core of Tel Aviv's electronic music scene. Sahar Z is now approaching 20 years as one of the country's most recognized artists. Part owner and resident at Tel Aviv's famed 'The Cat & Dog' club, Sahar continually plays alongside some of the world's best talent such as Sasha, John Digweed, Dubfire, Mathew Jonson and Patrice Baumel. While his productions for Bedrock, Lost & Found, Suara and Sudbeat continue to make him one of the most unique and cutting edge artists in the underground.
Similarly Chicola began his journey into electronic music in the mid-nineties, at Tel Aviv's renowned 'Allenby 58, DJing alongside Laurent Garnier, Carl Craig, Danny Tenaglia and countless other top international talents. Recent studio work for Lost & Found, Sudbeat Music and Guy Mantzur's Plattenbank Records, along with one hugely in demand and unreleased piece 'Childhood', has propelled Chicola into one of electronic music's most intriguing artists.
The studio synergy between Chicola and Sahar is constant and while an abundance of material is locked away (primarily for live gigs), it's only on rare occasions that you see a collaborative release from the duo. Previous EP's for Guy J's Lost & Found Records and Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music are all that sits in the duos collective discography. Now as 2016 begins we see a long awaited third project, their debut EP for microCastle entitled 'It Happened One Night'.
Like much of the music coming from the core of Tel Aviv's electronic culture, the lead track here 'It Is What It Is' has been the subject of much mystery. After appearing in the sets of Hernan Cattaneo and Guy Mantzur all throughout the Fall season it's been one of the most talked about, and sought after tracks in the underground. It's tough grooves and techno minded sensibilities are geared directly towards a large room or festival environment. Perhaps not a typical production for Chicola and Sahar, who are generally thought of as purveyors of deeper more emotional music, but here the duo have created the ultimate peak time record, culminating in a rush of delayed snares for an all out sensory assault and ultimate dance floor moment. In the words of Chicola and Sahar "Techno snares meets Moog. We made this groove and the original version was 18 minutes long, then we started to play around with the snares, and a cafe break brought the idea of those endless delays of snares. The arp on top is pure Moog with all its love. A simple, clean record and a dance floor killer."
The EP's second selection 'The Stage' finds Chicola and Sahar crafting the ultimate techno jam. It's a journey that plays out over fourteen glorious minutes, anchored by a smooth, momentous groove, it effortlessly flows through a myriad of subtle motifs and cosmic effects. A continually evolving adventure with a techno state of mind, as described by Chicola and Sahar, "This one was a winter session that resulted in a soulful moment. A time when we turned off our minds and opened up our hearts. An analog moment for us, circular sounds with warm melodies. It's our 909 meets 303 approach and an endless jam session for the future."
The EP concludes with its title and most emotive piece 'It Happened One Night'. Written nearly two years ago this one has an old soul and it's timeless appeal is undeniable. Powerful beat layering, metallic melodies and a cavernous break make for many magic moments but it's a heavenly third act which ultimately seals the track's true brilliance. In the words of Chicola and Sahar, "One hot summer night we sat down and started to do our thing with Mr Prophet 12. We took this chord and gave it our treatment, it's a track full of madness, solid grooves & hypnotic soundscapes. There's something very sweet in this sound but locked away underneath it all there's something very dark & nasty as well. A unique track and perfect to bring the EP all together."

An illustrious career stretching over two decades has seen Chico Shuella become one of Israel’s most respected and sought after DJs and producers. Chicola’s international DJ appearances alongside domestic residencies at “Haomann 17” and his sets played on Laurent Garnier’s radio show have been coupled with a production career that has seen successful releases on US imprints, Tommy Boy and KTA in the early, post-millennium years, and more recently Lost and Found, Plattenbank and of course here on Sudbeat.
Kicking things off, with the title track from the EP we have 'Nux Vomica', a brooding peak time winner that means business from the off. Its big bass powers along as trippy fx pave the way before the teasing drop that holds you as big synths land with long reverbs creating tension. This is solid and packs a real punch, be warned!
String forward next with 'Her Song', and its another gem to keep the energy levels at maximum. A solid groove lays the foundation, while reverbs and delays on the big synth stabs before tinkling arpeggiator adds a mystical layer, creating a magical soundscape while trippy fx add depth before culminating in a reverby chasm that leads to the big drop. A big of a monster to say the least...
Rounding off the EP we have 'Jeedo'. A melodic voyage that oozes class, with its skippy groove and cool percussion lines, this warm gem its the most restrained of the package, yet still has a serious dance floor demeanour. One for getting your crowd lost in their own musical minds...
