High level ministerial to tackle job creation in mining sector

Brussels, 6 February 2018 /ACP:  Mining ministers and senior officials from Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific will gather in Brussels at the ACP House on 14 February 2018, for a high level ministerial meeting on mineral resources development, co-organised with the African Mineral Development Centers (AMDC). The ministerial segment will be preceded by two days of discussions by senior officials on 12 and 13 February 2018.

ACP, EU to present strategy for forthcoming €40 million culture sector programme

Brussels, 31 January 2018/ ACP: Impact, achievements and lessons learned in promoting the cultural sector in Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific will be examined at an international conference next week at the ACP House, including how this has fed into the strategy behind a new ACP-EU programme to support the cultural sector, due to be launched this year with an envelope of €40 million.

New ambassadors of Jamaica, Grenada welcomed

Brussels, 18 January 2018/ ACP: Envoys from two Caribbean nations, Grenada and Jamaica, were formally presented to the Committee of Ambassadors on Wednesday 17 January.

Cameroonian politician to preside over ACP and ACP-EU parliamentary assemblies

Brussels, 18 January 2018/ ACP: The new President of the ACP Parliamentary Assembly Hon. Joseph Hyacinthe Owona Kono of Cameroon (pictured left) met with the ACP Secretary General H.E. Dr. Patrick Gomes for the first time in Brussels yesterday, since officially taking over the reins from Hon. Ibrahim Rassin Bundu of Sierra Leone in December.

ACP-EU JPA: Co-Presidents welcome the release of 528 opposition members in Ethiopia

Brussels, 18 January 2018/ ACPEU JPA: The Co-Presidents of the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly welcome the decision of the Ethiopian authorities to release 528 members of the opposition, including Dr. Merara Gudina.

ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly: “Promoting the resilience of populations to natural disasters"

Port-Au-Prince, Haiti 18 December 2017/ ACP-EU JPA: The 34th session of the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly (JPA) opened on Monday 18 December in Port-au-Prince, Haiti with a firm call by the Co-President Michele Rivasi for international decion-makers present to effectively address the impacts of natural disasters, and include climate change adaptation strategies in all sectors. 

WTO impasse spurs ACP developing states to find intra-ACP solutions

Buenos Aires, 14 December 2017/ ACP: Talks towards a final outcome document collapsed at the 11th Ministerial Conference (MC11) of the World Trade Organisation, despite the best efforts by the Chair, Argentina’s Amb. Susana Malcorra, to get member states to agree to a ‘scaled down’ ministerial declaration.

Mister Chair, Distinguished Ministers, Excellencies, Ladies and gentlemen,
 
It was my honour to represent the states of the ACP as Coordinator at the historic 10th WTO Ministerial meeting in Nairobi, Kenya in 2015. At this 11th meeting I am pleased to represent my distinguished successor, the Honourable Carl Greenidge, Vice President and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Guyana who regrets that he cannot be here today.
