Social Innovation Hackathon focusing on Gender Equality took place on December 8 - 10th at İstanbul Impact Hub.
The efficient use of resources such as land, soil, energy, raw material, technology, and human capital in the economic production processes plays a crucial role in achieving sustainable development as well as competitive growth at national and regional levels. Ensuring the sustainability of and improving the ecosystem services (water regulation, pollination, combating pests, food, climate regulation, soil functions etc.) that benefit agriculture in the GAP Region are important for agricultural productivity and adaptation to climate change.
The projects that are going to be supported by “Future is in Tourism” in 2018 that to contributes to sustainable tourism activities in our country, to increase employment in the tourism sector and to draw attention to the local development aspect of tourism have been determined.
Regional effects of Syrian refugee influx were discussed from various perspectives on the 9th Global South-South Development Expo 2017, organized on 27-30 November 2017, in Antalya. UNDP Turkey side event entitled “Resilience: A Paradigm Shift in Humanitarian-Development Nexus: Syria Crisis Case” was held at the event that hosted 850 participants from 10 countries.
7.3 million forest villagers live in Turkey and this population consists of the poorest part of Turkey. It has been aimed to disseminate the solar power electric generation facilities in the forest villages with the Sustainable Energy Financing Mechanism for Solar Photovoltaic Systems in Forest Villages project. Thus, the project will contribute to reducing the effects of climate change as well as opening access doors to the forest villagers to green energy will help to improve the situation of extreme poverty and the desperate situation in which forest villagers in Turkey.
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Turkey appointed regionally acclaimed actor Mert Fırat, best known for his starring roles on Başka Dilde Aşk and Atlıkarınca, as its first Goodwill Ambassador in Turkey.
