HIDDEN ERROR: Usage of "death_cause" is not recognized
Dinah Shore (born Frances Rose Shore; February 29, 1916 – February 24, 1994) was an American singer, actress, television personality, and the top-charting female vocalist of the 1940s. She reached the height of her popularity as a recording artist during the Big Band era of the 1940s and 1950s, but achieved even greater success a decade later, in television, mainly as hostess of a series of variety programs for Chevrolet.
After failing singing auditions for the bands of Benny Goodman and both Jimmy Dorsey and his brother Tommy Dorsey, Shore struck out on her own to become the first singer of her era to achieve huge solo success. She had a string of 80 charted popular hits, spanning the years 1940 to 1957, and after appearing in a handful of feature films went on to a four-decade career in American television, starring in her own music and variety shows from 1951 through 1963 and hosting two talk shows in the 1970s. TV Guide magazine ranked her at #16 on their list of the top fifty television stars of all time. Stylistically, Shore was compared to two singers who followed her in the mid-to-late 1940s and early 1950s, Doris Day and Patti Page.
Ralph Moody (1886–1971) was an American actor with over 50 movie and over 100 television appearances. His known roles were a kindly old man & Native American, and did not start acting until in his sixties. He appeared in films such as Pick up on South Street, Toward the Unknown, The Legend of Tom Dooley, and The Story of Ruth. He was seen in several episodes of Dragnet and also appeared in episodes of The Lone Ranger, Bonanza, Perry Mason, Gunsmoke, The Rifleman, Dick Powell's Zane Grey Theater, Daniel Boone, Four Star Theater, and The Adventures of Rin Tin Tin.
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is a 10-minute black-and-white silent film made in the United States in 1910.
Made by the Edison Manufacturing Company and directed by Edwin S. Porter, the film starred Gladys Hulette as Alice. Being a silent film, naturally all of Lewis Carroll's nonsensical prose could not be used, and, being only a one-reel picture, most of Carroll's memorable characters in his original 1865 novel similarly could not be included. What was used in the film was faithful in spirit to Carroll, and in design to the original John Tenniel illustrations. Variety complimented the picture by comparing it favourably to the "foreign" film fantasies then flooding American cinemas.

Another example of classic 1950s television, this time a clip from "The Dinah Shore Show" with her singing "Imagination", a popular pop-standard with music by Jimmy Van Heusen, and lyrics by Johnny Burke. Aired in 1956 in color, but now only exists in black-and-white. We always have to keep in mind that a Documentary, after all, can tell lies and it can tell lies because it lays claim to a form of veracity which fiction doesn't. Some of the documentaries are made just to discredit some particular person, party, organization, system etc, but most of them here on TDF are non biased, without prejudice and worth watching.

Gladys Hulette stars as Alice in this wonderful adaptation with impressive effects. Filming begun March 30, 1910 and completed July 7th. It was released September 9th that year. Despite what other sources say, Edwin S. Porter DID NOT direct this film (he left Edison in 1909; his last film with them being the Bear Hunt, released January 1910). I do not know who did direct this. The receipt (supplied by the Thomas Edison National Historic Park) credits "photographing" to I.L. Gregory; I don't know if that ...

Watch more on the BFI Player: http://player.bfi.org.uk/ The first-ever film version of Lewis Carroll's tale has recently been restored by the BFI National Archive from severely damaged materials. Made just 37 years after Lewis Carroll wrote his novel and eight years after the birth of cinema, the adaptation was directed by Cecil Hepworth and Percy Stow, and was based on Sir John Tenniel's original illustrations. In an act that was to echo more than 100 years later, Hepworth cast his wife as the Red Queen, and he himself appears as the Frog Footman. Even the Cheshire cat is played by a family pet. With a running time of just 12 minutes (8 of which survive), Alice in Wonderland was the longest film produced in England at that time. Film archivists...

A charming early film adaptation of Alice in Wonderland. This "restoration" is clearer and a bit more detailed than the BFI version that I worked with. I wanted a higher rez, less fuzzy and pixelated version of it so I made one. I figured I'd post it, like my other "restorations" in case others wanted to see it. I left the watermark both to honor BFI for their work in restoring this and because it would be destructive to the footage to remove it. Let me know in the comments if these things are worth posting. For fans of my actual music and animation, I'm working on another death folk video now (The Stirring Daughter), which will hopefully be out before too long. Thanks for watching :) - Sumerias Fain

Alice happens on a royal parade where all the cards in the deck precede the Queen of Hearts, who welcomes Alice then turns on her and calls on the royal executioner to remove her head.
Super weird silent film of Alice in Wonderland from 1914. Added music by Eric Clausen...fits in spots. The people dressed as animals almost looks like a furry convention. :P

Directed by Bud Pollard and starring Ruth Gilbert as Alice. In the 30's, there was an "Alicemania" because of the centenary of Lewis Carroll's birth. Even the "real" Alice herself came to New York City for the celebrations in 1932 (she was 80 at the time). It's probable that this movie was made to capitalize on the Alice craze. The result...to be truthful it's not a "good" movie or a fantastic Alice adaptation, however, it's historically interesting and it does have its own peculiar charm. The screenplay is not based off the boo...

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland high-quality full audiobook with rolling text. Written by Lewis Carroll.
150 years after the original publication of 'Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland', Robert Douglas-Fairhurst (Professor of English Literature, University of Oxford), author of the Costa-shortlisted biography 'The Story of Alice', examines the character of Lewis Carroll and the creation of his iconic heroine. From Victorian Oxford to the modern online world, he explores how every generation has created its own Wonderland, and why we are still so curious about Alice’s dreamworld. This talk was part of an event exploring the work of celebrated Oxford storytellers Lewis Carroll, J.R.R. Tolkien and Philip Pullman and how their stories have been reimagined using a range of digital media. Watch the full discussion here: https://youtu.be/aPKENNrUmfI.
