Art is a diverse range of human activities in creating visual, auditory or performing artifacts – artworks, expressing the author's imaginative or technical skill, intended to be appreciated for their beauty or emotional power. In their most general form these activities include the production of works of art, the criticism of art, the study of the history of art, and the aesthetic dissemination of art.
The oldest form of art are visual arts, which include creation of images or objects in fields including painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, and other visual media. Architecture is often included as one of the visual arts; however, like the decorative arts, it involves the creation of objects where the practical considerations of use are essential—in a way that they usually are not in a painting, for example. Music, theatre, film, dance, and other performing arts, as well as literature and other media such as interactive media, are included in a broader definition of art or the arts. Until the 17th century, art referred to any skill or mastery and was not differentiated from crafts or sciences. In modern usage after the 17th century, where aesthetic considerations are paramount, the fine arts are separated and distinguished from acquired skills in general, such as the decorative or applied arts.
Episode I, Episode 1 or Episode One may refer to:
A short film is any film not long enough to be considered a feature film. Although no consensus exists as to where that boundary is drawn, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences defines a short film as "an original motion picture that has a running time of 40 minutes or less, including all credits". The term featurette originally applied to a film longer than a short subject, but shorter than a standard feature film.
The increasingly rare term short subject means approximately the same thing. An industry term, it carries more of an assumption that the film is shown as part of a presentation along with a feature film. Short is an abbreviation for either term. Short films are often screened at local, national, or international film festivals and made by independent filmmakers for non profit, either with a low budget or no budget at all. They are usually funded by film grants, non profit organizations, sponsor, or personal funds. Short films are generally used by filmmakers to gain experience and/or prove their talent in order to gain funding for future films from private investors, entertainment companies, or film studios.
This is a documentary from earlier this year which follows a selection of students at the famous art college Goldsmiths as they prepare to put on the end of year show and exhibit their work. Some may find this an interesting look behind the thought processes and techniques used by students who will go on to be the next generation of talented British artists. But others may find this unintentionally hilarious. Your choice.
New pop-up exhibits like the Museum of Ice Cream and Color Factory are ditching the traditional gallery barriers and "no photography" rules for interactive, picture perfect installations. We take a look at pictures of things that may or may not be contemporary art, and ask ourselves - art or nart (not art)? Random Acts Of Genius Vandalism ”Is it art?” Is a question sometimes said and heard in museums, galleries, movie theaters, concert arenas, any place of creation. One such place is also the street, where the spectators often seem to wonder if creative street art is “Graffiti Art or vandalism?” With some people may regard street art as a form of vandalism, however the distinction between the two isn't always clear Many people would agree that some acts of vandalism are more funny than they are criminal. Street art adds something, either aesthetically or conceptually. Street art may be humorous or thought provoking. So I have collected this top list of 50 too funny to be illegal pranks and acts of "vandalism." If you think that some are funnier than others, then make your voice hear...

Marina Abramović is in conversation with Iwona Blazwick. Since the beginning of her career in Belgrade during the early 1970s Marina Abramovic is considered a major figure in performance art. She discusses her four-decade survey MOMA exhibition Marina Abramovic: The Artist Is Present which included a piece that marked her record for endurance after seating in the gallery for the duration of the exhibition totalling over 700 hours while facing a chair for visitors to seat. Coinciding with her solo show at Lisson Gallery in London, Abramovic analyses her interest in the preservation and the restaging of performance which motivated her founding of the Marina Abramovic Institute for Preservation of Performance Art in New York. From the Impression That I Get Australian and UK Import Single
Somethin' needs to take your mind off this,
something's gotta shine a light,
Is it everything that you've ever wanted,
Is it still not quite
A giant shadow's been cast on your outlook,
something needs to help you shake
Is it everything that you've ever dreamed of
Is it or is it fake?
Is it I'm only asking
Is it? No need to reply
Is it coming at you now, or is it going by?
Something needs to snap you out of this
Something needs to set you free
Is it what you hoped for?
I hope it is and hope it never happens to me
A giant shackle's been locked, making matters
much worse than you'd rather they would be
Is it all you've ever asked for?
Is it or isn't maybe?
Is it I'm only asking
Is it? No need to respond
Is it right in front of you? Or is it way beyond?
Is it time for the ever after?
I believe it's tough to find
Is it ending in disaster?
Are you ahead? Are you way behind?
Is it? I'm only asking?
Is it? If you don't mind
Is it right in front of you?
Are you ahead or are you way behind? Is it!
