The National Museum of Indonesia (Indonesian: Museum Nasional), is an archeological, historical, ethnological, and geographical museum located in Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat, Central Jakarta, right on the west side of Merdeka Square. Popularly known as Elephant Building (Indonesian: Gedung Gajah) after the elephant statue in its forecourt. Its broad collections cover all of Indonesia's territory and almost all of its history. The museum has endeavoured to preserve Indonesia's heritage for two centuries. This museum practices double pricing (foreign looking people are charged more).
On April 24, 1778, a group of Dutch intellectuals established a scientific institution under the name Bataviaasch Genootschap van Kunsten en Wetenschappen, (Royal Batavian Society of Arts and Sciences). This private body had the aim of promoting research in the field of arts and sciences, especially in history, archaeology, ethnography and physics, and publish the various findings.
A national museum is a museum maintained by a nation.
The following is a list of national museums:

Indonesia (i/ˌɪndəˈniːʒə/ IN-də-NEE-zhə or /ˌɪndoʊˈniːziə/ IN-doh-NEE-zee-ə; Indonesian: [ɪndonesia]), officially the Republic of Indonesia (Indonesian: Republik Indonesia [rɛpublik ɪndonesia]), is a sovereign island country in Southeast Asia and Oceania. It is the largest island country in the world by the number of islands, with more than fourteen thousand islands. Indonesia has an estimated population of over 255 million people and is the world's fourth most populous country and the most populous Muslim-majority country. The world's most populous island of Java contains more than half of the country's population.
Indonesia's republican form of government includes an elected legislature and president. Indonesia has 34 provinces, of which five have Special Administrative status. Its capital city is Jakarta. The country shares land borders with Papua New Guinea, East Timor, and the Malaysian Borneo. Other neighbouring countries include Singapore, the Philippines, Australia, Palau, and the Indian territory of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Indonesia is a founding member of ASEAN and a member of the G-20 major economies. The Indonesian economy is the world's 16th largest by nominal GDP and the 8th largest by GDP at PPP.
A museum (/mjuˈziːəm/; myoo-zee-um) is an institution that cares for (conserves) a collection of artifacts and other objects of artistic, cultural, historical, or scientific importance and makes them available for public viewing through exhibits that may be permanent or temporary. Most large museums are located in major cities throughout the world and more local ones exist in smaller cities, towns and even the countryside. Museums have varying aims, ranging from serving researchers and specialists to serving the general public. The goal of serving researchers is increasingly shifting to serving the general public.
Some of the most attended museums include the Louvre in Paris, the National Museum of China in Beijing, the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C., the British Museum in London, the National Gallery in London and The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. There are many types of museums, including art museums, natural history museums, science museums, war museums and children's museums.

http://www.ratemyscience.com/Website/About.aspx Imagine if Socrates could journey through time to this moment, here and now. He would recognize and be familiar with many things around us. He would surely feel that in some sense, the West is heir to his civilization. He would notice the visual style that embodies Greek democratic ideals, a style which embodies harmony, order, and freedom. He would notice today that the West has built its temples to liberty and justice, and to money and power, in Greco-Roman style. Socrates would identify this style in The National Museum of Indonesia located in Jakarta. http://ratemyscience.com/ You can publish your ideas at Rate My Science

The video was recorded at the end of 2015 at my own bedroom I call MolekLane Museum by Elshinta TV. The video was edited and directed by the Elshinta team, include picking the items shot and the choice of music. The video was broadcasted on Indonesian national television through channel Elshinta, a local Indonesian channel. I was not involved in reviewing the video and therefore there are errors. The narrator stated several errors and mismatch to what I spoke. Also, the director shot several items that were a mismatch to the items I talked about. The video itself has not been translated into English or been added a subtitle. Apologies for the low quality of the video as well as I converted the file myself.I will definitely add subtitles and improve the quality when I get the chance. ...
